This is a gem, take a deep breath as you walk to the door of the old Shearer's quarters, open the door and be greeted with a panoramic view the ranges and a delightfully renovated space. If you like hiking, fishing, a hot tub in the middle of the bush, away from everyone, this is for you. Highly recommended.

Great stay. Place was clean and tidy. It allowed us to relax and enjoy. It felt like a home and not a sterile corporate box. Would stay again.

What a beautiful spot! We loved being in such a peaceful location, just a short walk from being able to swim in the lake. Lovely's place had everything we need, including a nice outdoor area - perfect for storing bikes and drying swimming gear! Lovely was a dream to communicate with and went out of her way to make our stay great. We can't recommend staying here highly enough!

Ruru Lodge is a fabulous retreat in lush gardens, amazing views up the hill in Kinloch. We took over the whole family wing and found it extremely comfortable, warm and tastefully decorated. Our 'honeymoon' suite had its own bath and shower (in tub) and double sink with beautiful garden views, very comfortable bed and large space (my sister did yoga). We made the kost of the spa with a view to the bay in the distance. We woke up to the sound of native birds which was awesome! Renee is such a thoughtful and caring host - it's like going home to mum. Our breakfast was fresh and abundant: cereal, fruit yogurt, croisants or hot cross buns, juice, tea/coffee. On our last day Renee packed us delicious food for the road. We highly recommend Ruru Lodge and staying with its owners Renee and Ian

Peter's place is a rare find. Close to the hot spring, 30 min drive from Rotorua town centre. It is a working farm with horses, chicken etc. on site. It is such a special experience when you lift up your head in the room and see a horse staring at you through the window. We had great time there.

We had a wonderful time at Boyd and Avis' air bnb. The location is really peaceful, surrounded by nature and animals. The hosts are super friendly and welcoming, I strongly recommend staying at their place !

We had a lovely stay at Jess and Joni’s farm. Our daughter absolutely loved feeding the animals and toasting marshmallows on the open fire under the stars. Jess made sure we had everything we needed and was a very responsive and kind host. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a relaxing stay in the country!

Absolutely picture perfect! We couldn’t have asked for a better place to relax and recharge. Definitely no expenses spared here, from the stunningly designed cabin, fire burning hot tub, alfresco shower, love seat and nighttime star gazing from your bed, all set in the hilltops with amazing views. Chalk farm stay has everything you need for a blissful weekend away! We arrived late and in the rain but Catherine had prepped the hot tub fire for us and left some yummy treats in the fridge which was very much appreciated.

Peaceful Retreat with Stunning Views ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We had a wonderful stay at this beautifully cottage! Nestled in picturesque surroundings, it offered the perfect escape—peaceful and private, yet still just a 10-minute drive to shops and restaurants when we wanted to explore. The two-bedroom apartment is thoughtfully laid out, offering plenty of space and comfort. We especially loved the spacious deck overlooking the valley and town—a serene spot to unwind and take in the views. The cottage is set on a secluded property, with just the right amount of distance from the main house to feel completely private. Inside, we found all the essential amenities in the kitchen, bathroom, and laundry, making it easy to settle in and feel at home. The laundry line on the deck was a nice, practical touch too. Our host was warm and hospitable, making the experience even more enjoyable. We highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a quiet retreat with easy access to town and nature.

If it weren't for the kids coming back to school, I'd really like to stay a few more days and see the beautiful Milky Way! Ashley is a very good host, warm and talkative, the facilities of the house are also very good, very willing, the living room is warm and comfortable, very suitable for two families to travel together, the kitchen is also very well equipped, although we did not have time to cook, but still gave us a very good experience, there is a super cute dog Xinba,We got along very well, my kids love it very much, the character is gentle, lively and lovely, I will miss this night in Taobao very much, if I go again next time, I will choose here again, you can see the beautiful sunrise, and the beautiful Milky Way, it is also very close to the city center, Ashley also recommended a very delicious restaurant to us, very good

For those who enjoy farm stays, I definitely recommend Cathy’s place. She is the best host I have ever met—very polite, friendly, and always approachable. Staying at Cathy’s place is great value for money and feels like staying in a homestead.

Raewyn was an amazing host and gave me great local recommendations as well as places/things to avoid. Her home was a beautiful and quiet space for the night and I would stay here again in a heartbeat!

The house made our stay in Taupō a delight! Just outside of town, beautiful views and secluded location made it the perfect place to relax but also explore all that beautiful Taupō has to offer. Large TV and comfortable lounge room made us feel right at home and the water pressure in the showers was amazing. Thank you again for the wonderful stay.
