The house was lovely and comfortable. The decor is fresh and the house is spotless. The owner was on hand to answer any query. Would definitely recommend for a short stay. Great location to the local amenities and beautiful surrounding countryside.

We had an absolutely fantastic stay at Abbots Moss. It was last minute (same day booking) and everything was ready and in order. The house was definitely a home away from home which is exactly what I am looking for. We have two children and a very well behaved golden - all loved the location and the house. The grounds and lake are exquisite and so peaceful. The lounge area was beautifully decorated with sofas I would purchase for my own home. Linens are also something I look for and the beds were all lovely. We enjoyed the area, eating out at some local recommendations, visiting Hadrian's Wall, completing our first family Wainwright summit! Thank you Tamar. We would love to return!

Enjoyed a night here and it was definitely worth the money. Perfect for couple or small family. The house was clean and as described in the listing. Lindsey was very responsive and helpful. Would definitely recommend to others.

We had the most wonderful stay for our son’s 16th birthday. Our boys fished the days away and caught six large pike which they were thrilled with. The surroundings were peaceful,we loved the hot tub,underfloor heating and how comfortable the house was. Abi was a super host,really responsive. Memories made,a truly wonderful weekend.Thank you so much!

I would agree with previous comments. The property is gorgeous and in pristine condition with waterside access where we could launch our kayak and paddle boards. These as well as bicycles are also available to hire close by. All amenities are within walking distance and the nearby ferry provides access to the western shore of Lake Windermere. There is a lovely out and back path along the edge of the lake ideal for runners as well as several circular walks. All in all a we had a fantastic active family holiday but you can equally spend time on the balcony watching the world go by. Helen’s welcome pack is exceptional providing you with essentials to start your holiday. The fresh flowers were a lovely touch. I would love to come back one day. Thanks.

Stayed for 2 nights. Beautiful house, very warm and cosy. Spotlessly clean and tidy. We stayed during the storm but we will definitely come back in the summer as the garden is amazing. Mark was a brilliant host, kept in touch and very quick to answer any queries we had. I would recommend staying here lovely walk around the lake which is about a 5 minute walk away. No complaints whatsoever.

This is a lovely place, with everything you need for a relaxing stay. There are walks on your doorstep and no need to get in your car if you do not want to. The accommodation had everything we needed in the kitchen and the fireplace in the living room was an added bonus for the cold nights, as we went in February, plus there is underfloor heating which really made the place cosy. The gardens surrounding the accommodation are lovely and there is a fire pit at the top of the garden to watch the stars if you are lucky enough to get a clear night. The sauna and cold plunge were great after a long day of hiking, we were lucky as the other accommodation that shared the facilities used the sauna late in the evening and we used them late afternoon, so we didn't overlap, which was ideal. I would highly recommend this accommodation, it was lovely for our family break with the dogs. Thanks again for everything

Lovely place, would very happily return! Very cosy, clean, exactly as described and clear directions even though it is very rural (which is exactly what we wanted).

Lovely place to stay! We enjoyed our stay here. The house was huge and had everything we needed. We enjoyed the hot tub and the pool table and darts board. The sauna is also an amazing addition. Would recommend. ☺️

the quirky accommodation is in a beautiful location in the Lake District. Close to lakes and walks, as well as not being far away from Cockermouth. This is a great place to stay for families and groups on friends as it has plenty of room for everyone.

Beautiful house - the kitchen was a great place for us all to get together. And to have a pool/table tennis table in the garage - was a bonus - kept the grandsons entertained!! Great location as could walk to the lake and into Windermere for a coffee! But is was so peaceful as well. We all had a fantastic and much needed break. Even the weather - it rained - could not dampen our spirits!!! Loved it and would book again.

Sandown House made our summer visit to the Lake District enjoyable. Space for our immediate family and extended family and friends. We nicknamed it the upside down house because the bedrooms are on the ground floor and the kitchen and living rooms on the top floor. Plenty of parking, walking distance to all that Bowness-on-Windermere has to offer. We think the on suite bathrooms are tiny, but we are tall people (6’and 6’4”) other than that plenty of space to stretch out. Lovely welcome hamper upon our arrival added a nice touch from the owners.

Fabulous lodge, beautifully decorated for Christmas with a lovely festive welcome pack waiting for us on arrival. The beds were comfy and a good size unlike other lodges we've stayed in. Peaceful site which is close to plenty of restaurants and other amenities. Good communication from the host. We had a perfect family Christmas staying here and enjoyed it so much, we've already booked another stay.

Had a truly wonderful stay at the cottage, jenkinson place. Well appointed warm and cozy cottage. Great walks direct from the cottage to loweswater and surrounding area

Lovely accommodation thank you

This is a wonderful spacious home in a beautiful quiet village with great amenities nearby. The home was warm and very comfortable. It was easy to find with plenty of parking on the drive outside. We went to Seascale and St Bees for beach and countryside walks, Seascale has a great ice cream parlour that does food and great coffee ! St Bees has spectacular coastal walks and views. Whitehaven has a lovely harbour to wander around. On previous visits to the area we have been on the local railway which is well worth the trip, also Muncaster Castle is not to be missed, it has a great birds of prey show! This home is great value and a fantastic base to explore a beautiful area. The Pennington Arms serve lovely food at a reasonable price, there are a few supermarkets nearby if you prefer to self cater. Hopefully we will be able to return the n the summer to try out the lovely conservatory 😊. This is high on my recommendation list for anyone wanting a relaxing time away from home.

Great location, excellent communication from Craig- host, decor lovely, great bedrooms & showers, good linen and towels, good parking. Clean & tidy. Good WiFi & tech. Guest compendium useful. Areas we would suggest need consideration:- there is limited storage for clothes, limited drawers and limited wardrobe. No where to hang wet clothes or stack boots, otherwise highly recommended, would re book. Well done Craig & Jan.

I was very pleased to find Cheryl's place as our original booking cancelled with just a couple of weeks to go. It was thoughtfully and beautifully decorated and provisioned, and was a lovely base for our break, even if we did have to leave a day early due to threatening snow! Would recommend.

This was the absolute perfect place to stay for our trip - I grew up in the area and now live in Canada. We came back for a family reunion over New Year (my parents live very close by). Holly was super helpful and always responded very quickly to any queries. The house was very welcoming, clean, very well furnished and well equipped. Very quiet neighbourhood. Very comfortable beds! Check in instructions were very clear and well communicated. Thank you Holly for helping make our trip very special.

Massive thank you for April .Amazing place to stay and you feel definitely like home. She was so nice to communicate. We had to change the date and she was completely fine with that . We got extra child .before girl didn’t want ti come and suddenly when parents was getting ready to leave , she decided that she also want to , April was so nice and accepted that with no extra charge. She so care off her guests, had many games and family activities ready. Amazing kids books what the girls enjoyed. To be honest that’s was our the most welcoming and caring stay. Thank you so much. We looking forward to stay at your place again.

The house is great, loads of space, and it feels really nice and cosy inside. There was a wild storm outside one evening but we all felt secure inside watching a movie on the big TV. We enjoyed th facilities at the park, having a pool, hot tub and sauna with a bar and games room upstairs means there was something to do if the weather wasn't great, and the outdoor giant chess and crazy golf meant there was something g to do immediately outside too. Really close to Aira Falls which is a must as is a trip over to Keswick.
