Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Shoal Bay

our first stay at Hawks Nest and we would definitely recommend this stay. The location is perfect to walk to either surf beach or Jimmy's Beach on the Bay. IGA a few minutes walk so easy. Our favourite aspect was the Privacy of the place and having the front verandah which was like an extended living area....the bird song is so lovely. Our doggo was well and truly safe and secure in the rear courtyard with lawn. Or we tied him up out front lawn area whilst we relaxed on the verandah. The inside space is clean, tidy and presentable.

We were a group of six adults and a large dog, and Natalie's place served as a perfect base for us in exploring Port Stephens. The place was tidy and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay, whilst perfectly situated within a few minutes' walk from the shops and an array of beaches.

We managed to fit ourselves, baby and dog into the tiny home and it was fine! Was something different to try and it was great to have our dog with us. The place was clean, Ed was lovely to deal with and bed etc were very comfy.

These hosts deserve their superhost title. We were 6 girlfriends and this house had it all. Loads of private space & thoughtful extras like extra ice, bread & milk & kitchen necessities and they accommodated our later check out request. Perfect weekend, 6 bedrooms (the 6th is the upper lounge area), 3 toilets, 2 showers/bathrooms, lovely tropical garden outdoor space. All was very very clean! It is a 2 minute drive to the beach. Nowdays, all beach areas have paid parking (cheap for Sydneysiders at $4 per hour, use Easypark App) or park 1 street back for free. Easy paved hike 30-45 minutes to the top of Mt Tomaree for a truely world class view!! All beaches are beautiful and clean and are not busy even in school holidays. Greek restaurant Atmos topped off our holiday. Thank you to our very fastidious hosts.

We were an extended family requiring a minimum 5 bedrooms; gathering for a memorial service. This house served this purpose in the perfect location. 3 bathrooms was a bonus. Sitting around the fire when weather permitted was relaxing. Thank you

This is one of the best places I’ve ever stayed. It was immaculately clean, the kitchen was well stocked. There were thoughtful touches like a cot and high chair for the baby and beach towels provided for our use. Daniel gave clear instructions and responded promptly to all my questions. The garden was private and peaceful. A fantastic place to spend a weekend or longer if you’re lucky! Thank you.

Our stay at Karen's property was fabulous, just the right peaceful mini break that we so needed. The whole property is beautiful, peaceful, and well looked after, you can even have a few shots of golf. We all loved the pool such a nice added Bonus, we were there every day after going to the beach (or even before some days haha), it's lovely at night with the lights. The guest house is exactly as per the photos in the ad, actually, it feels a bigger space than the photos. The kitchen is well stocked to do some cooking if needed. Our 8 yo boy loved spending time with Zoey (their dog), who is just gorgeous and has such a lovely nature, he also really enjoyed being in charge of feeding the chickens and checking for eggs :-). Karen and Richard are lovely hosts, super accommodating and friendly but also respectful of your privacy, the perfect balance. It was a lovely stay and we hope we can be back soon, our son has already asked when we can go back. Thanks again Karen and Richard :-)

Fantastic property with thoughtful hosts; a wonderful choice for families and kids of all ages. Well maintained amenities and attention to detail made our stay with extended family a delight. The heated pool was a hit - even when it rained - and it was easy to get in and out safely for both the toddler and senior in our group. The wood fire pizza oven is definitely worth cranking for dinner or just to hang in the mini-amphitheatre. The playhouse, car and trampoline kept our little one very entertained. Every room was immaculate and beautifully designed. We were even treated to some local produce courtesy of our host - thanks Lauren! A magical location and very peaceful. Just 10 minutes walk to town and if you’re up for exploring, follow the ‘secret’ track to Wreck beach via the bushland at the rear of the garden. Highly recommend.

Absolutely wonderful! We had a lovely peaceful stay at Jen’s house. It was brilliant. Sparkling clean, had everything we needed. The BBQ was great. It was so relaxing. Our little dog loved his stay too. Jen is a fantastic host

Simon’s place is simply amazing. Not only is a great house, in an amazing spot but It was equipped with everything anyone could ever possibly need. Simon was always available and responsive to any queries, and went the extra mile to find out more about our plans and interests so he could recommend activities or offer additions l help. I have stayed in plenty of Airbnb’s and I must say I think this tops them all, and no doubt I will be back.

We had a wonderful stay at Michelle’s house! The house was clean, comfortable, and had all the amenities we needed for a relaxing vacation. The pool was a highlight, providing a great spot to unwind after spending time at the nearby beach. The location was convenient, and Michelle was responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway near Nelson Bay!

A beautiful space to launch your vacation in Nelson Bay. Perfect for kids with modern amenities, the house is spacious, beautifully decorated and immaculately clean. The private pool was an oasis and the wraparound balcony was perfect for a quiet coffee or a late evening glass of wine. As for the hosts - Karen ❤️ was engaging and very responsive. I don’t think she would be happy if you didn’t enjoy every moment, and we certainly did. Just book it. You won’t regret a thing.

We had a pleasant stay at John's cottage. It's in a very convenient location near the Marina and shops in Nelson Bay.

Excellent. Loved the home. Everything was perfect. Very clean and spotless. I couldn’t believe how clean it was and how homely it felt. The beds were comfortable. The whole home was well equipped. The only thing was no instructions on how to use the stove and oven. The Tv was a bonus we loved it . Great communication with the host. We’re very professional and friendly. Thank you for a lovely relaxing and enjoyable stay.

Casey’s place was incredibly comfortable and absolutely spotless! I have high standards when it comes to cleanliness, and this place was perfect. The kitchen was really well equipped, everything felt thoughtfully considered and made our stay easy. A lovely surprise was discovering a small travel cot in the wardrobe, it was just what we needed for our baby boy! The only small downside was a bit of confusion about the outdoor layout. I initially thought the fenced section was the backyard, but it’s actually the carport. The backyard is actually the front yard, which is unfenced and a bit more exposed. That said, it’s a quiet street, and we still really enjoyed sitting out there with a glass of wine or two! Overall, a really lovely and much-needed stay.

Would love to own a holiday house just like this. Was a great getaway close to nelsons bay and right next anna bay and shops around the corner. Nothing more you can ask for. Highly recommend to everyone

We really enjoyed Dales place, it’s a very quite and peaceful location right on the water. Dale has modern canoes/paddle boards to use and explore the water, thoughtful extras were included. Overall we had a lovely couple of days.

Beautiful house in a quiet location right on the water. The dog loved running around the large fenced yard and the kids loved taking the kayaks out. There was a large kitchen to cook in and a huge balcony to sit out on and enjoy the views. There was plenty of space for us. David the host was friendly and helpful. We didn’t even go out as the house and waterfront was enough for us. We will visit again.

I cannot recommend this accommodation and host more highly. We felt instantly at home and Katrina was super responsive to any messages. The home was fully equipped with everything you could need and was close to all amenities and only a short walk to the beach. My family and puppy had a lovely stay
