Saballo Lodge is an incredible place, set in beautiful surroundings in the jungle with a river plunge swimming pool, where birds and lizards chill on the rocks next to you, it's own jetty and free boats for kayaking on the river Sierpe, hammock hut and lovely cabins. Fireflies light up the grounds at dusk as you walk to the on site restaurant for dinner. We stayed with a toddler and after a month in CR, this was by far the most beautiful place we stayed. Breakfast is provided and Angelica and Henri were massive helpful with getting tours booked up and sorting everything out, despite our halting Spanish. We went on a mangrove tour, saw crocs, squirrel monkeys and more birds than were in the guidebook. We also went on night tours and saw an Oncilla, Opposum and frogs, as well as crocs on the way to the waterfall. We went canoeing in the river with our daughter and saw monkeys up close. Whilst theres no aircon in the lodges, we didnt need it and were fine with just the fans.

The stay at Finca Manglar was a truly unique experience. We can only agree with all the previous reviews. This place is amazing and I don't think there is another place like it. The best is the lovely people. Thank you Luis, Raquel, Ruth, the little boy and the happy dog! We only spoke very little Spanish, but were still able to communicate. Raquel and Ruth cooked all the meals for us and Louis took us on trips to the Mangrove and to the beach. We saw monkeys, a large Boa, parrots, 29! crocodiles, turtles, iguanas and a sloth on our trips with Luis - especially as he spotted most of these often well hidden animals. In the evening we walked around the house with flashlights and saw giant frogs and a snake, so exciting - but remember to wear the rubber boots that are free to use :-) We also went on a snorkling trip to Cano Island, which is also recommended. There we swam with sea turtles, dolphins and a shark. Lia was also quick to respond and very helpful. Thank you so much ❤️

We really had an excellent stay. We have been welcomed by Victor dad who make sure everything was fine and to shoe us the kitchen / dining area (which is huge), and equipments. The view on ocean, sunset and sunrise is really splendid. We have been able to see many birds including Toucans who visited us at the beginning of the night. Also, the environment is really quiet ! Access to the top of the hill could be difficult without a 4x4, as a section of the climb is damaged due to trucks who recently used it. It is planed to repair it, so make sure to check the access conditions with Victor before booking if you plan to come with a 2x4 véhicule. We definitely recommand this place to stay during your Costa Rica trip, as it is a perfect starting point to visit Drake Bay (4*4 véhicule needed for last 30km) or Puerto Jiménez, from which you can reach beautiful beaches.
