Absolutely beautiful!! Alison was so lovely - there was a power cut in the Annexe and part of the pub but she made sure we were ok and the pub made us sandwiches. Lovely friendly people, we can’t wait to go back!!

Fantastic, quaint little cottage in a beautiful village. Had the welcome of warmth when walking through the door after a long journey. Decorated lovely throughout. Really quiet and peaceful at night/morning, slept 9 hours every night! Modern kitchen appliances and great shower! It was great to see the New Year in here, followed by a 6 mile hike on New Year’s Day around the Kilburn White Horse with a reward in The Forresters Arms. Also an additional thank you to Vicki for going to the trouble of posting out some clothes back to me that I accidentally left behind!

I recently had the pleasure of staying at this delightful Airbnb cottage, and I must say, it felt like a warm hug from the countryside itself. The Setting: Picture this: you drive down winding lanes, past rolling hills dotted with sheep and gliders flying above , until you find this charming stone cottage, almost hidden by the beauty around it. It's like stepping into a scene from a Jane Austen novel, but with all the modern comforts you could want. The Cottage: The moment I walked in, I was greeted by the comforting warmth from the underfloor heating the horses smiling at the gate to greet us and a nice surprise from our host Lucy a cake bread butter and milk! The beds were so comfy and it was silent just what we wanted. Helmsley is a short trip and we did plenty of walking around the area. Lucy was always on hand to help if we had any questions. A great relaxing break would throughly reccomend the cottage to anyone wanting to visit North Yorkshire Thank you everything ❤️

Old Bald Peg is spacious, beautifully laid out and very well equipped. Angela's care for her guests shows through in every aspect, including her communications, personal welcome and exceptionally generous welcome pack. We stayed over new year and were pleased to find very tasteful festive decorations in place. The cottage is warm and comfortable and Wass (pronouced "Woss" if you are a southern softy like us) is a lovely spot, sheltered in most directions, with a good pub and numbers of good walks, no matter how many legs you have. Byland Abbey, a few hundred yards away, would be a major tourist attraction in most parts of the country. In Yorkshire, it's just another atmospheric abbey ruin, with free access. Thirsk (Herriott Museum), York (Minster and Jorvik) and the Moors themselves (including the steam railway) are all easy to get to along Yorkshire's broad roads (not scary narrow lane in sight). All in all, a great spot for a holiday.
