We had a wonderful stay at Emi-san and Shintaro-san’s place! They were very friendly, kind, and responsive. The house was perfect! It was so clean and lovely and we had everything we needed. We cooked breakfast every morning and found delicious restaurants in town for dinner. Our sweet hosts gave us a full listing of restaurants and grocery stores in the area. Their neighborhood was very quiet and close to docks with fishing boats. We had a pleasant walk around there one morning and saw almost a dozen black kites (hawk like birds). It was an easy walk from the train station. We had a lovely stay!

Timothee was an excellent host and gave me some good advice for places to explore. The space was a comfy but very functional studio in a nice neighborhood with very light traffic and easy walking to local groceries and nature alike. He also gave me some good advice on several gifts I was looking to bring back and made delivery of things that I couldn’t find locally easy. Check-in and Check-out were both simple, and he even helped me to book a taxi to the airport for my check-out. English is fairly rare in Kirishima, and you can expect taxi drivers not to speak a word of it, but language barriers aside it is very peaceful, with lovely nature and a good sense of culture. After spending a year in more tropical climates it was also nice to experience “winter” at temperatures below 25 Celsius. Timothee was also excellent about providing basic household supplies, being very well-stocked in them, and the space cools off or warms up quickly when you tun on the AC/Heating system.
