Family-friendly holiday rentals in Edinburgh

We had a lovely few days, staying at Appletree Cottage, with our two grandchildren aged 6 and 3. The cottage was very comfy and well equipped, and ideally suited our needs. Good location for many attractions such as Blair Drummond Safari Park, Falkirk Wheel and the Kelpies. We were lucky to have good weather so the excellent play area and hot tub were much enjoyed each day. Would definitely recommend booking.

We had a fantastic stay at Martin and Charul's apartment and would definitely stay there again! From the moment of booking to departure communication was flawless and we felt very welcome. The apartment was clean, decorated beautifully and we had everything that we could have needed. The apartment is well situated and only a short walk to princes street and Edinburgh Waverley so the perfect location to explore the city.

What a wonderful place! Exactly as advertised and more. Calum and Karen were very responsive and gracious. Always helpful with recommendations. It was a family trip so we did a lot of touring. After a long day of activities, it was always great to come back to this beautiful home . . . and the views are spectacular.

Only 30 mins drive from the airport, we were greeted by Drew to get a walk through. It's their family home so it has everything you could need, very spacious, private, safe, and friendly neighborhood. Only 5 minutes walk from a coastal restaurant we ate at every night. Takes exactly 1-hour to get to Waverly Edinburgh station by train, from the moment you leave the front door. We were a group of 5 work colleagues who all needed their own bedroom, and this space more than accommodated. Highly recommend. Amazing view of Edinburgh from every window. Evening beach strolls are a must.

We had an absolutely lovely time at Ali's place. Spacious, clean and very comfortable. Hot tub and garnden really make the place with stunning views. Easy access to Edinburgh by train and car and also the Fife coastal path. We loved it! would be very happy to return again one day. Ali was the perfect host.

The flat was warm, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. We didn’t cook but the kitchen was very well equipped. It is in a great location, only a couple of minutes walk to vibrant Stockbridge, but not noisy. The hosts were easy to contact and very helpful. We would definitely choose to stay there again.

I stayed at this wonderful property for a few days right after getting married, kicking off my honeymoon while also showing my new in-laws some of the best parts of the UK. The entire family had a great time here—it’s clean, very spacious, and truly felt like home. We did run into a minor issue with a bathroom leak (a bit of bad luck on my part, I suppose), but the host was incredibly responsive and did everything they could to resolve it quickly. I really appreciate how it was handled and am grateful for the prompt attention. Overall, I highly recommend this lovely property. If I’m ever in Edinburgh again with family or friends, I’d definitely check if this place is available before considering other options in the Old Town area. The location is amazing — perfect for exploring the city. The place was very clean, exactly as described, and the host communicated well. We did have one hiccup: there were only two towels provided, even though there were three of us, so we had to share, which wasn’t ideal. Also, like other reviews mentioned, the bed is very noisy. I figured it couldn’t be that bad since I don’t move much when I sleep, but even the slightest movement made noise. Other than that, we had a good stay and really enjoyed the home and the area. I would give it 4.5 stars because 5 means perfect, and the bed and towel issues weren't so great.

Axel was a fantastic host, great communication and the house was just what we needed. Very clean and exactly as described. Close to the tram and bus links just a few stops to the city centre and only 15 mins on the bus to Portobello Beach. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would recommend Axel as a host and his house to anyone.

My family had a wonderful stay at Ronnie’s place! The home had everything we needed. We were all comfortable and had plenty of room. The back yard is spacious and lovely, so my children enjoyed playing outside. Ronnie really thought of everything! There were hairdryers for us to use and tea, coffee, biscuits and milk waiting for us. The home was a short 10ish minutes ride away from city center. We would love to come back to stay here again!

A nice, private place in a quiet neighbourhood. Great if you want to be near but not in the hustle and bustle of the Old Town. The flat is very spacious. Two generous bedrooms, big living space, kitchen diner, bathroom and separate toilet... we were really impressed. It's extremely well equipped and comfortable - all the mod cons from the kitchen to excellent shower, comfy beds that are a dream, and blankets to chill on the couch with. A lot of nice touches to welcome you. We didn't need to bring any amenities which was really helpful for a backpack only kind of city break. There's no outside space included which was a shame, use of the garden is not permitted. The upstairs neighbours are early risers and so it's pretty noisy first thing, but other than that was very peaceful and a restful space. The host is super responsive when needed and leaves you to it otherwise which is nice. It was a good Edinburgh find, and we enjoyed staying here. Thanks!

This is a wonderful place to stay for us, convenient for city (walking & bus), great bus service so easy to explore further afield. Loved the flat's eclectic look, very functional kitchen with all you need if you want to cook. Gabriella was a great host, very responsive & welcoming. Left local map, lots of information & books to help get the most out of a visit to the city.

It was my first experience in uk Edinburgh was amazing.

The apartment is really bright and spacious and tastefully decorated. The living area and kitchen are perfect. The apartment has everything you need including a washing machine and dryer. Audrey explained everything very clearly to us when we arrived to drop off our luggage (the owners facilitated an early drop off before 4pm). In terms of improvements, the water boiler is quite noisy so if someone used the bathroom late, it could wake other guests. We would have appreciated shampoo in the bathroom - some of our party flew with hand luggage only with a small liquids allowance. We enjoyed our stay and it was convenient for the EICC, a 10-15 minute walk. The welcome breakfast pack was a nice touch. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, including Napoli-themed Pizzeria 1926 with delicious pizzas!

Had a wonderful stay with my family at Priscilla, would definitely recommend Priscilla. Dianne was great and friendly with communication. My Kids loved it and would love to visit again.

Absolutely beautiful, well-appointed flat. Fits all the of the amenities you could want into a lovely space that is walkable to different parts of the city. Would absolutely stay again!

We really enjoyed Karin’s apartment, exactly as per the pictures and very quiet but close to Cannongate and the Royal mile. Milk, biscuits and great Costa coffee pods. Bath room very nice with good products. Would definitely return.
