Fantastic base. Despite two weeks of changeable weather, the West Wing offered something for all conditions (from sun-drenched terraces to hunkering down as storms blew through) and ample opportunity to find things to do in the immediate vicinity.

I have stayed in quite a few Airbnbs and the Blue House stands head and shoulders above them all. I cannot praise it enough. It was clean, toasty warm, nicely decorated, comfortable, well equipped, had copious hot water for a bath, and was in a really convenient situation for Kirkcudbright and its shops etc. We had my dog with us, and the walk along the river was perfect to keep her happy. The woodburner was lovely to sit by in the evening, but the central heating would have been enough if we hadn’t wanted to light it. Ian and Hazel, who we did not meet, are generous hosts indeed to share this lovely space with their lucky guests. My sister is already planning a trip back…..

Apricity Cottage was a wonderful, peaceful little haven. The perfect place for a quiet weekend with lots to see nearby, or to just curl up by the fire and watch television. A beautiful wee gem of a place which I would not hesitate to recommend to others.
