Ligar Bay is a fantastic spot, the changing tides provide so much diversity and interest - we kayaked, paddle boarded, walked and swam in the bay and at surrounding beaches and tracks. The house itself is very clean, with beautiful outlook and the garden is lovely. Furnishings and linen are very stylish and beds were comfortable. We found the lack of curtains/blinds a little challenging - there’s a skylight without a blind directly above master bed, one bedroom has no blind and the other had sheers, which provide privacy but no light. We love our sleep in holiday! We also missed having a dishwasher - some wouldn’t care. We appreciated all the pantry staples, great indoor and outdoor showers and water toys available for guests to use. A stunning place!

This is a magical beautiful home. It is peaceful and very private. The views are extraordinary. We hike rhe nearby falls and they were some of thw nicest we have seen so close up. The unique home is a special stay.

Our stay at Awaroa Bach was unforgettable. Elva and Geoff were incredibly welcoming and generous with their time, offering local insight that helped us make the most of our visit. The bach is peaceful, well-appointed, and perfectly located with easy access to the estuary and nearby water taxi stops. We loved the spacious bedroom, outdoor kitchen with BBQ, and thoughtful touches like fresh herbs from Elva’s garden. A highlight was kayaking at high tide and spotting manta rays—truly magical. On our last night, we shared dinner with Elva, Geoff, and some neighbors, which made us feel genuinely at home. Highly recommended.

A true haven of peace! If you’re looking for a place to recharge in the heart of nature, far from everything, this is the perfect spot. The accommodation is charming, comfortable, and very well equipped. You truly feel “alone in the world”—in the best way possible. A huge thank you for this timeless escape!
