Villa holiday rentals in Zanzibar

Our family of 5 loved our 7-night stay for Christmas. The home was clean and spacious and perfectly located for us: 3 minute walk to the beach and 5 minute walk to Paje village for groceries or other things. A peaceful spot and a great home. Joseph was on hand to help with everything and he was amazing! He would cook and shop for us (optional, and it was wonderful!), organize free laundry service, and organize taxis. He was fantastic!!! So friendly and professional and thoughtful. We did some day-trips that are highly recommended: Jozani Forest, Saalam Cave, Mtende Beach, and Safari Blue. Joseph arranged everything at very fair prices. He also helped us find some last-minute Christmas presents for our kids - his local advice and recommendations were appreciated. The beach here was shallow and great at high tide for swimming, but nice to explore at low tide too. There are Maasai craft stalls & shoe shops to browse, and beach activities. We LOVED our stay!! We hope to return!

Our 2 families (10 persons) had a great time and stay in this house over Christmas. This house doesn't have any AC but the fans do a pretty good job. Nice deep pool which was of great use as the tide and seaweed has big influence on the beach just outside . Along the shore there are couple of cozy restaurants. Be caution and aware of palm trees with coconuts that can fall down from the neighbor plots. Housekeeper Hidaya was great and so friendly, she helped with cleaning and cooking.

The feeling to live in a big private house with this garden almost like a jungle outside is amazing. The staff takes so good care of you and cook great meals. Jaku helped us with everything. Atm, shop,guids, food, showed us around, visit the villige school and was always on time. It is calm and not so many tourist around. The white beach outside is huge and its a great place for swimming. (I hope they start cleaning it a bit more, it deserve it. Nice restaurants close with wifi! The house is without so don't forget to load down the movie that you would like to see in the evening :) But these days its nice not having wifi all the time. Take the break, its good for us. The house gets a little dark in the evening but I hope there are more lamps next time I come back, because I really to want come back. They have changed the roof so don't get confused. its the same house as in the picture on airbnb. If you want get away from tourist and looking for a calm place just to relax, this is your house. And the house can absolutely take 15-20 persons. The villige behind it is small and not rich but the people that lives there are great and warm. we felt welcomed. So hire this place, meet the people that actually lives and was born in Zanzibar, Big hotels are all over the world, this is so much more. All my best, Siri

A very well-equipped villa, especially if you keep your eyes open and see the conditions in which the local people live in their immediate surroundings. The locals are friendly and open, only language can be a barrier to making friends. We spent these few days just lazing around, we only went to the beach to go to the beach, to search in the sea, to play football in the sand. There is not a huge selection of restaurants and they are a bit more expensive than the other village we visited, Jambiani. The apartment and the kitchen are well equipped, you can also spend time in the garden, everything is added. We experienced something that we rarely get used to during our travels: the TV was not just a decoration on the wall, it worked, with lots of channels. Adam and Rahel are our two hosts. We found that Adam was there and easily available for us, he uses his phone, he doesn't only respond through the airbnb interface. He was at our disposal regarding power outages and internet problems

Fantastic villa. It’s not often you get to stay in en enormous house that used to be part of a Sultan’s place. Even after reading all the positive reviews it exceeded expectations. The house is an experience itself and Rafael as a host is very easy to communicate with, always responsive and gave us great tips. If you want to treat yourself to exceptional experience while in Stone Town. Highly recommend!

Lorenz was very responsive and accommodating, particularly when we expressed concern that the whirlpool is inside and cannot be closed off. we have a 3 year old who sometimes wanders at night and we were worried he would get into the pool while we slept; Lorenz offered to drain and cover the whirlpool for us. the beach is lively and clean and everyone we encountered was very friendly. lots of restaurants nearby on the beach. the house staff is very friendly and helpful. the washer listed as an amenity was not available but the staff took our laundry and washed and dried it for us.

What a lovely place to stay! A beautiful villa tastefully decorated and wonderfully equipped with all the amenities. It truly feels like home – a luxurious home! The beach is just a few moments away. We had an amazing time grilling on the terrace and relaxing in the pool. The contact with the host was excellent, and we also received many tips about local places worth visiting. I sincerely recommend it.

We had a fantastic stay at Villa Masai Mara! The villa looks exactly like the photos—if not better in real life. The location is unbeatable, right on a stunning beach with breathtaking sea views. One of the standout aspects is the dedicated staff, all included with the stay. They were incredibly attentive, always ready to help with a cheerful "yes" to any request. This level of hospitality truly made a difference. The host was also exceptionally responsive, accommodating every request quickly and efficiently. The property could use a bit of maintenance, but it’s nothing that detracted from the overall experience. The villa and its location are simply amazing, and we’re already looking forward to our next visit! Highly recommended!

Overall, this place was fantastic. It’s a traditional Zanzibar design so it’s not a modern place, but exactly what we wanted. We were thrilled to be there with our large group of two families, including 5 children. Rasheed was excellent and accommodated all of our requests. Food, especially breakfast, was delicious. The beach outside the villa is pristine, with white sand beaches and a beautiful Indian Ocean right outside the doorstep. The private pool was incredible. The villa rental subsidizes the Tamani Foundation and its students, so staying here contributes to the education of local kids. Win win.

We had the most incredible stay at this stunning property! The location is absolutely perfect—secluded and tranquil, making it an ideal retreat for our group of 8. The surroundings offered peace and serenity, far away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The accommodation was outstanding—spacious, beautifully designed and comfortable. Every corner of the property was thoughtfully curated making it feel like a true home away from home. What truly made our experience unforgettable, however, was the wonderful staff. Led by Yusuf, they went above and beyond to accommodate every request. We hired the private chef, Suleiman, and he delivered the most outstanding meals we could ask for. The staff even arranged kayaking experiences for us which was an absolute highlight. We couldn't have asked for a better team, who were so accommodating, friendly and professional throughout our stay. I highly recommend this property for anyone looking for a peaceful, serene escape. You won’t regret it!

Amazing location with endless beachfront right out the front door. Tons of restaurants within a short walk. Pool was amazing, cleaning crew was super great, and cleaned multiple times a day. Included breakfasts were amazing, but we didn’t pay extra to eat lunch or dinner there, since almost all other nearby locations were cheaper.

This is a great house, beautifully decorated and right on the beach. The pool was a great choice for the kids. Staff is very friendly. The partnership with Poa Poa Restaurant is a nice addition (including free breakfast!). I would recommend this villa and I would come back.

The place is amazing. It’s a beautiful home, exactly as seen in the pictures. A short walk to the beach, in a great neighborhood, and there is a resort next door with a restaurant, and a nice gym 5 min walk away. The rooms were clean and spacious, and the pool temperature was perfect. Wi-Fi worked great. The host is super responsive. The chef/cleaning lady made an amazing breakfast daily. Supplies were delivered on demand. All in all, this is a fantastic property!

Super Fantastic Host Extraordinary. I am yet to meet any host of Carol’s capacity. Over and beyond that call of duty. I love to cook on holidays, Carol was my guide that took me to the local market, made sure I wasn’t reaped off by the locals. Went to two different markets. Helped to change currency at the local bureau de change. All around astonishing and outstanding ! Highly recommended and appreciated.

My friends and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this beautiful beach house on Airbnb. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by the caretaker, who showed us around the property and ensured we had everything we needed. Zaiba our host, was very responsive and gave us good recommendations, right from before the trip. Sufiyan, the co-host always passed by to ensure all was well. The staff were incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our stay, making us feel right at home. The house itself was stunning, with modern decor and plenty of space for our group to relax and unwind. One of the highlights of the property was its proximity to the beach, offering breathtaking views and a tranquil atmosphere. We enjoyed time at the property and appreciate the hosts' efforts to provide a comfortable and relaxing environment We look forward to staying here again.

Simba’s apartments was a wonderful stay. Christoph was a generous and pleasant host, very available. We got to watch both the Wimbledon and Euros finals (in the bedrooms is possible too) - if you enjoy sports, it’s the right place to go. The staff was super friendly. The rooms very comfortable. And you’re a short walk from the beautiful pristine beach. SIMBA has a partnership with Mayai Hotel so you can go enjoy the pool, beach and restaurant at Mayai (10min walk away). We recommend staying here!

Honestly amazing place. Electricity is a serious problem here in TZ. Having been here for 2 months and stayed in so many places. The back up generator here is a bonus!! The people are lovely they help with any questions you have. The villas are very spacious and have everything you need. The location is amazing as it’s central to everything. Ordering food whatever time is easy too!! And they come and clean the room whenever you want. And of course the pool is a bonus!!
