Wirral Grange Cottage - 3 bed house

IsabellaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We loved Carol and Terry’s place! It fit 7 of us adults comfortably. We loved the hot tub too for relaxation and being in amongst the grape vines was idyllic and peaceful. The breakfast supplies were amazing and very appreciated and the property’s wine was delicious! We will definitely be back, thank you!

Ever After Cottage ❤modern and cosy❤ self check-in

MichaelRating, 5 stars1 week ago
This place far exceeded our expectations and it was the little, and often missed things that made the difference. The venue was exactly as described but the host includes the little touches which make a huge difference, which often go overlooked. In the kitchen there is chilled water in the fridge and sauces things like tomato and bbq sauce, white and brown sugar for tea and coffee as well as quality toiletries in the bathroom. I mention these touches as far too many places overlook the home comforts. The TV comes with free Netflix and all the other apps for you to log in on your account. The free wifi is 5G and you are even supplied with free Tom Tams and a bottle of Hunter valley wine upon arrival. Kym has impeccable taste and the place is immaculate with stylish design throughout. The property is close to most of the hunters main attractions. I have stayed in many Air Bnb places and this is right up there with the best in class. Well done Kym, a great experience!

Fox & Hound Farm Stay: Self Contained Accomodation

BrodieRating, 5 stars6 months ago
3 night stay with 2 toddlers. It was a great quite location collocated on small rural property. Would recommend for a nice quiet weekend away. BYO food etc if on a budget, otherwise plan for 15-30-60min drives to the surrounding area to try various cafes. The accommodation is an old barn converted into modern two story self contained apartment. Small funtional kitchen with the essentials provided to assist prepare/cook meals and full size fridge. The two bedrooms rooms were spacious an provided space for a portable cot. Our toddlers were pleasantly surprised by the birds and dog who visited on occasion. David was a great host and was proactive to provide clear directions on check-in, arrival and local tips on travel plans. He remained responsive during our stay for follow up questions.

WINE COUNTRY HOMESTEAD

ArjunaRating, 5 stars3 days ago
Amazing accommodation and great Host! We booked Joe's Nulkaba property for a family vacation. From the initial booking till check-out, Joe was very friendly and proactive in providing suggestions/instructions and promptly responded to our messages. The property was simply amazing. Easily fitted our family totalling 12 people + 1 pet. The house was very spacious, clean, accessible, had great views and had loads of eateries/ in walking and quick driving distance. The beds was spacious and comfortable, and bathrooms were squeaky clean. The whole family had a wonderful relaxing time and our fury friend had plenty of space in the back snd front yards to play around. Joe even had a newly setup BBQ machine outside and a bar area inside. Overall, we had an amazing stay and we really appreciate Joe's hospitality and quick responses. We would definitely book this Airbnb in the future and highly recommend it to anyone wanting a relaxing time. Thank you once again Joe for the amazing property.

Villa Azille - at Cypress Lakes Resort

SarahRating, 5 stars3 days ago
4 of us stayed in Jenni and Kristy’s villa over Easter and what a trip it was! I would highly recommend this villa as there is so much to do in the area, the golf course on site was amazing and the villa was very well kept and extremely clean. The attention to detail was excellent and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this villa to a friend. We would love to go back!

Your guide to Wollombi

All About Wollombi

Wollombi is a small historic village in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. As well as being part of Australia’s oldest wine region, it’s also close to the World Heritage listed Yengo National Park. Before European settlement, the land that is now occupied by Wollombi was a significant meeting point for Aboriginal people, and its name means “meeting place.” There are more than 300 significant Aboriginal sites around Wollombi, many of which can be visited via walking or driving tracks.

Along with soaking up the area’s history, visitors can also explore the Wollombi Wine Trail, along with local cafes, restaurants, and a range of cultural activities held year-round. The Hunter Valley’s main vineyard districts of Pokolbin and Lovedale are also around a 30-minute drive away.

The best time to stay in a holiday rental in Wollombi

Wollombi enjoys a fairly temperate climate and is an ideal place to visit year round. In summer, days can be hot and dry. Autumn brings cooler weather, with changing colours on the trees and minimal rainfall, and is an ideal time for visitors who like to make the most of the outdoors. In winter, temperatures drop quite a bit, making Wollombi a perfect spot to relax in front of a log fire. Spring is another pleasant time to visit Wollombi, bringing more temperate weather, and budding and blossoming vineyards. The nearby Hunter Valley is also host to a wide range of events throughout the year, including art shows, music festivals, and concerts, comedy performances, BBQ and beer festivals, and produce showcases.

Top things to do in Wollombi

Wollombi Endeavour Museum

If you’re keen to explore the local history, consider the Wollombi Endeavour Museum, which is located in an old sandstone building that was formerly a courthouse, police station, and community hall. It now showcases a range of local historical items, mostly from the late 1800s.

Finchley Cultural Walk

One of the main reasons people visit Wollombi is to see the area’s wealth of Aboriginal rock art. The Finchley Cultural Walk is an easy stroll that’s suitable for most ages, and includes signs along the way that explain the significance of the Finchley Aboriginal engravings. When the sun is shining, you’re also likely to see plenty of goannas, and the walk itself is very scenic.

Wine Sampling

Wollombi is often used as a base for visitors wanting to explore the broader Hunter Valley wine region, and there are several boutique wineries in town that offer cellar-door tastings. Follow the Wollombi Valley Wine Trail to sample some local drops and learn more about the history of this winemaking region, which has been producing quality wines since the 1850s.
