Cottage holiday rentals in Tendring District

I wanted a cosy weekend away with my two boys , partner and dog to celebrate my birthday. Hedgehog cottage was the perfect escape from our everyday challenges. The kids went the whole weekend without the xbox ! we connected as a family on country walks with the dog, a cosy pub lunch, board games and a dip in the hot tub. I could even hear owls hooting as I went off to sleep. I highly recommend if you are looking for a good value , dog friendly country getaway !

Great weekend away with the family. Gages room accessible. Hot tub we really enjoyed even during winter time with frost. It was lovely and hot. The locals in the Green Man pub a few mins away were very friendly and accommodating, which had a lovely log fire. Unfortunately due to the location we tried a few takeaways from the leaflets provided and 2 didn’t deliver to that location and the third wanted cash which we didn’t find out unit the end. So recommend bringing some food from home just incase. But Amanda’s place has everything you need to cook. As well as providing it milk, chocolates and biscuits on arrival. The WI-FI worked great. We have 3 children that were running iPads, phones and a console and it all worked great. There was a smart TV that was easy to use which had Netflix, and other apps you can log into. Great area for dog walking. We plan to book a log cabin or this cottage again I’m the summer to return with the family and In-laws. Highly recommend. Thank you both

I recently enjoyed a delightful getaway that exceeded all my expectations. Nestled in a picturesque location, the accommodations were cozy and inviting, offering a perfect blend of comfort and charm. All Hosts were attentive and welcoming. Everything was perfect.

Swallows Roost was the perfect cottage for a weekend away for the family and I. Everything was clean on arrival, the kitchen was fully equipped with everything that you will need for your stay. The location was perfect, nice and private with amazing views, but not too far from the lovely market town of Bury St Edmunds. The wood fired hot tub was enjoyed by the whole family, which made for a really cozy night in the minus temperatures outside. Lucy was a great host, providing a great online guide for the property and ready to answer any questions we had, nothing was too much hassle for her. I highly recommend Swallows Roost to anyone looking to spend some time away in Suffolk.

Great hosts, peaceful and relaxing location. Clean, spacious and comfortable lodge. Well eqipped with all you could need during your stay. Loved the hot tub and the outside decking area. Large dog friendly garden which my grehound loved running around in. Quiet woodland nearby for dog walks and a farm shop that sells delicious fresh cakes. Resonably priced and would happily book to stay again. Thank you

We recently enjoyed an unforgettable four-night stay at Elmtree Cottage, and it was nothing short of perfect. The moment we arrived, we were captivated by the stunning views that greeted us - seemed straight out of a postcard! The cottage itself is a charming blend of rustic character and modern comfort. One of the highlights of our stay was the hot tub, which offered the perfect spot to unwind after a day of exploring. Soaking in the warm water while taking in the panoramic views was pure bliss. The area is also a haven for seafood lovers. We indulged in the freshest seafood, with local catches prepared to perfection, whether we dined out or cooked up a feast in the well-equipped kitchen. Elmtree Cottage is the ideal getaway for anyone looking to relax, explore, and savor the best of what this beautiful region has to offer. We can't wait to return!

Hayley and Peter really have created a home from home and was a perfect little stay for me and my partner. The hot tub and log burner made it extra cosy for us during this winter freeze. I was slightly nervous booking as this is my first time booking an Air b’n’b. Hayley and Peter were responsive when ever we needed them which was only once as they set everything out before we even got there. Couldn’t recommend this place highly enough and will certainly be back in the summer. Thanks again!

We had a truly amazing time here. Was a perfect few days. Would highly recommend! Mark was a great host, super helpful and gave us some awesome recommendations for walks and pubs.

We had a lovely time and were very lucky with the weather. A great base for cycling – the village is about 20 minutes ride from the local train station. Beautifully decorated small cottage with all amenities – everything you might want, including basic supplies kindly left by Claire. Very comfortable. A small garden where we could eat outside; all quite enclosed by a high hedge at the back and side, and overlooking the village street at the front. Lots to do in the area, Felixstowe a thriving and pleasant seaside resort, Claire a thoughtful, flexible and considerate host.

We thoroughly enjoyed our 3 nights at The Stables! It’s in such a quiet and beautiful part of the countryside, with plenty of walks you can do from the doorstep. We had a fun walk around the Deben marshes, seeing boats on the river. The barn itself was cosy and super clean, with all the amenities we needed. It was a particularly cold few days so we did need to wack the heating on a little more, but the log burner was very efficient at heating up the barn in the evenings! It was wonderful to meet Amanda & Simon too, who are so friendly and hospitable. We had some lovely chats and they made us feel so welcome. I really recommend a visit to Woodbridge - we loved pootling around the various shops & cafes, and seeing the Deben again. Had an excellent meal at The Burnt Fig (previously called the Galley). Our only regret was that we couldn’t stay longer! Thank you Amanda for such a lovely stay, we hope to be back again in the future.

great space for large families. 3 separate cottages linked with internal doors. can't hear a thing from each cottage and connected for when wanting to get between them in the day. loads of space, very peaceful and certainly enough space for 12 people. didn't use the shepherds hut as didn't need to. we had a visit from the recommended masseuse who was amazing !! the bikes are a bit rundown so didn't use them. beautiful tennis court

It was a real pleasure to stay at Letheringham Mill. Jacqui was a great host, and both provided considerate instructions and recommendations before we arrived, and has thoughtfully stocked the cottage with everything you might need (including a lovely welcome pack!). It was a truly dog friendly stay - our dog would happily have stayed forever (as would my son and I!).

A beautiful little rustic quirky cottage, in very quiet surroundings, everything we needed for our stay. Beds were very comfortable with clean and fresh smelling linen. The wood burner was a highlight but we didn't get chance to try the pizza oven.

Fantastic stay at Chisholm’s - the property was exactly as described and very comfortable, warm and cosy at a cold time of year. En suite bathrooms in both bedrooms was brilliant, with great shower pressure. Everything was of excellent quality throughout, and we had everything we needed for our stay. Polly was very helpful with excellent local knowledge. Thank you so much - would highly recommend.

We had a wonderful stay at Lynne's cottage, the surrounding area is so peaceful and perfect for a long hike. The log fire and treats were so welcoming, it was the perfect weekend retreat to relax and disconnect. As we don't drive we managed to get there easily by train and taxi, and Lynne was very helpful in suggesting local taxis and routes.

An absolutely stunning cottage in a beautiful town. We could not have asked for more with our stay. The AirBnB included little treats like crisps, beers, wood for the fire (which was such a treat on the cold evenings, not that the cottage was cold, central heating works a treat!) and essentials such as milk which just helps to make you feel so at home. Decor is absolutely on point, quaint and interesting, clean and well laid out. Highly recommend!

Adam welcomed us on arrival and was friendly and accommodating. When we needed to contact them about a couple of minor things, they were responded very quickly and dealt with any small issues immediately. Very friendly and provided local information. Accommodation was as expected, presented well - a 400 year old cottage with quirky, rustic and therefore in keeping decoration. Well appointed and plenty of kitchen accessories for cooking in if that's what you want to do. A lovely welcome pack provided :-) Nice pub over the road, beautiful walks to local villages with other great places to eat, a good location for a relaxing and walking and admiring the local scenery.. Area popular with bird watchers it seems (being right on the estuary...) Some road noise outside as the cottage is right on the road, but you soon get used to this if you're not already.

Fantastic place for kids and adults, we loved our stay and will be booking again! Hosts were fab and the cottage is lovely.

5*+ The Perfect Getaway.. We had the most amazing time seeing the new year in here. We love it here this is the second time staying and will definitely be back, also it’s the best nights sleep we have had in a long time! Absolutely amazing this property, the location is so peaceful and beautiful, even our two year old loved the walks around the grounds. A lovely cosy stay. From the moment I booked, communication was brilliant. Bryony was always responsive and helpful with answers to any questions we had. We came to visit Hazelwood Marshes, and this location really ideal. Towns nearby with good choice of places to eat. Cottage was beautiful - very comfy and cosy warm. Lots of lovely touches such as hot water bottles for both beds. Very friendly host, would definately recommend. Thank you!
