Holiday rentals with lake access in Southbury

I came here in the dead of winter for a writer's retreat with a fellow writer- AND I WOULD DO IT AGAIN! It was a beautiful and inspiring place to write. Perched on Andover Lake, it was too cold to frolic outside but that was actually liberating. There was a rocking chair-ottoman combo in the master bedroom looking out on the lake and watching it freeze while I worked on some writing was so peaceful and perfect. When I needed to switch it up, there was a writer's desk with the same view and I can not overstate how nice and productive it was to work from it. I am sure in the summer it's a really fun stay (there were kayaks and a dock for swimming) but I actually loved being isolated in such an idyllic place. It's near a few other homes but the road was low traffic enough for a cold weather run around half the lake. Marcie was super helpful with suggestions for places to eat. We didn't actually use the recs - but that only speaks to how nice the house was and how hard it was to leave!

Nice winter getaway with a bunch of friends and our toddlers. House was clean and well stocked with staples (including kitchen 'nice-have's like ziplock bags, foil and saran wrap). It was snowy all weekend so we couldn't really enjoy the lake view but i'm sure it's even more beautiful in the spring, summer or fall. Would love to come back in warmer months to enjoy more of the surroundings. Throughout the weekend, John and Elizabeth were incredibly helpful and prompt in replying to our inquiries which made it a very easy and relaxing stay.

I love this place. This was my second stay at the property, after having first stayed back in September - 'nuff said!

Anne Marie's place was exactly what we were looking for! It is extremely well stocked, with everything you might need, from kitchen appliances, extra blankets, many towels, etc. The surroundings were gorgeous and the area is very quiet and peaceful. Anne Marie was friendly and very responsive, answering questions quickly and flexibly. We can't wait to come back!

We had a truly wonderful stay at Gaby's home. Unlike many Airbnb hosts who design their spaces to feel like generic hotels, Gaby’s place radiated warmth, personality, and charm. It felt like a home that had been truly lived in and loved, with thoughtful, personal touches like family photos, unique art, and an impressive collection of books that added so much character. Gaby herself was an incredible host—always responsive, friendly, and approachable. She’s the kind of person I'd love to sit down and chat with. The setting was absolutely stunning. We had snow, the lake was frozen, and the wintry view was really peaceful. The abundance of wildlife made it even more special—we spotted deer, bald eagles, a couple of foxes who visited every morning, and even a bobcat prancing around the house one evening. We also love to cook, and Gaby’s kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could possibly need to play chef If you’re looking for an authentic and unforgettable Airbnb experience

We loved Nathania's house! The views were beautiful! It was a great house to have local family over for a gathering (which was the purpose of our visit). We had some snow and ice during our stay, but Nathania and her husband were unexpectedly there, and ensured the snow and ice was dealt with the best they could. We definitely hope to rent again!

Sunil’s large house sits on extensive grounds with beautiful views across lake Mahopac from most rooms. A well equipped kitchen and updated bathrooms, round out the amenities. Sunil is an exceptionally responsive and cordial host. We have stayed here several times and highly recommend it.

This place was exactly as described. We had a wonderful time staying here while we visited family in the area. I would definitely recommend especially to families.

Nice and clean. Quiet and secluded. Host responsive and actively invovled. The hot plate for cooking is very small but Everything works and room was easily warmed once we figured out the heater. Pretty expensive for how bare-bones it is, but if you are looking for a very quiet place to hole up in and work, might be worth the expense.

This is the third time we have stayed at one of Andrea’s rentals. She is quick to respond and we have always felt very much at home. Loved this little apartment above the Lace Factory and would love to be here in the summer to hang out on the porch and watch the river go by. Thank you!

Margie’s place is an amazing hidden gem. The inside is very clean and comfortable. The outside is an experience of its own. The lake will drop your blood pressure immediately. Gorgeous surroundings. The dogs are friendly and lovable. We will be back! 👍🏼

We only had a short stay, but John was a great help letting us check in early - they clearly love their home and the town, offering annotated menus of local restaurants and info on many natural features to visit in the area. Delightful decor, many many plants, plenty of linens available, no shortage of room to lounge and relax. Parking was a cinch, checkout directions were clear and simple. Would stay again.

This was just what I needed for my first trip to Mohegan Lake! Quiet neighborhood. Cozy bed. Great water pressure. I’ll definitely be booking again if I come back to this cute little town.

Alexis’s place was perfect. Plenty of space for my husband and our 9 month old daughter. The neighborhood was walkable and serene with beautiful views of the water nearby. I hope we get to visit again soon!

Was the perfect little get away for us. And it was nice to find a place that accommodated the dogs so well. We appreciated being able to get to places easily but at the same time have a peaceful place to return to.

Absolutely spectacular experience. Wylda was a wonderful host, providing us with all the information we could possibly need about her space and the surrounding area. The Airbnb itself was adorable and quirky, with every little detail well-designed. We kept discovering fun tchotchkes and interesting pieces of art throughout our weekend there. Loved the fireplace, the full kitchen, the chessboard, and the zero gravity chair. The nearby lake and woods were lovely as well. We felt very at peace and very comfortable. Would love to stay there again!

We loved the view out to the lake, which was different every day and throughout the day. The open layout of the house is great to enjoy the views, and if the weather is nice, there are great sitting areas outside as well. The house is well-stocked and cozy. The hosts are friendly and always responsive. There are also great parks to visit nearby. We had a great winter weekend and would love to stay again.

Brenda place was beautiful with a beautiful view especially when we work up to some light snow on the lake. The layout of the house was ideal for us with the big open living room and great updated kitchen. So many comfortable beds for us to use. Our favorite places were the sun room and dining rooms looking out at the lake, Brenda was was kind and helpful and adding a Christmas tree for us was a beautiful touch . Highly recommend, one of our best for sure, thank you

Quiet and quaint, this was just what my sister and I needed while visiting our elderly father who lives around the other side of the lake.

If you are looking for simplicity (which we were) this is the perfect place to. I’ve always wanted to stay at a lake house. We couldn’t have asked for more. Serene, tranquil, beautiful are the proper descriptions of the house and the area. We came to Connecticut to visit my daughter and family and they ended up coming to our place instead. Jason was extremely helpful when needed. We would definitely stay there again!

My wife and I returned as guests for our Birthdays Getaway weekend, and we recalled why we loved everything about the space from our first visit; its location and inspiring decoration and modern, user-friendly functionality. This was a bitter cold weekend across the northeast, and although we stayed mostly indoors when not exploring the Connecticut River Valley's galleries and cafés, Beriozka's outdoor amenities (deck, patio, fire pit, grill, outdoor kitchen) reminded us we need to experience this hidden gem in summer. The space and furnishings and luxurious surfaces were sparkling clean. Thermostats throughout the ingenious layout were easy to find and to set comfort zones throughout. Everything functioned as intended — no quirky makeshift anything, special instructions, etc. I might have guessed all the appliances and fine china and flatware were brand new — but Yulka's the guestbook proved others guest had enjoyed the perfection before. We'll be back for sure! Thank you Yulka.
