I'm a graduate student at Longwood and I needed a place to stay for a last minute trip to Farmville. Anna Carol's cottage exceeded my expectations! If you are looking for some privacy and peace and quiet that is still just minutes from campus/downtown, this property is perfect. Anna Carol's personal touches made it extra special, and the bed was wonderful! Will definitely stay again.

I highly recommend that anyone coming to this area consider staying at Marigold's Retreat. My wife and I are traveling to all of the Virginia State Parks, and we booked here because of the perfect location. Eric is a fantastic, friendly, and helpful host, and the space itself is very comfortable, clean, and private. We got some of the best sleep here that we've had in months! We took Eric up on some of his recommendations for food nearby and were not disappointed. We're looking forward to coming here again for our next visits in town and cannot recommend Eric's place enough!

The Inn at Hampden-Sydney

We had a perfect get-away at the Inn. The cabin was so cozy in the midst of a snowy winter weekend. We enjoyed morning and evening walks on the trails all around the property with our dogs. The gas fire place created the best atmosphere for game nights and romantic dinners. The kitchen had all the best amenities for cooking our big spreads! The bed was big and comfortable, and we both slept really well for once! We loved the front sun room as a make-shift office and for enjoying the lovely winter scenes with a hot cuppa. We will definitely be back as it was by far the most relaxing weekend we’ve had in a while!

Lakeside Farm Retreat

After having passed this place up on previous trips we decided to take a chance on it this visit. My husband questioned what I had gotten us into with the drive to the home but it was amazing! It is very private in a beautiful setting. It is an older model trailer home but inside was clean and perfect. There were a could spiders and lady bugs who wanted to stay with us but that’s just what happens in nature sometimes. The home was clean, the bed comfy, the views were beautiful and we had the best time relaxing and enjoying ourselves. Hampden-Sydney college was only 8 miles away which was convenient to visiting our son. And FarmVille was only about half an hour away so convenient to get around while offering peace and quiet.

This was a wonderful little get away for 3 former college roomates. We were able to attend Homecoming & Alumni weekend at Longwood University after 20 years. The home was so cozy, we actually skipped a few events to take advantage of the quiet atmosphere, comfortable beds, and no kids for the weekend. We would love to return with our families next year.

Lived staying here!! Dwight, our host, was amazing. Highly recommend to anyone, especially if you want to get out of the city, not far, but was very peaceful. Hope to stay here again when back in the area.

Loved staying at Debbie’s place. She left out plenty of snacks and drinks for us to have. The apartment was extremely clean and looked even better than the photos! I would definitely stay there again in the future.

This establishment is exceptional. Although the owners occasionally reside on the property in a separate residence, they maintain a discreet presence unless assistance is required. The setting is remarkably private. The house, with its aged charm, offers ample space to accommodate all necessities. Amenities include a washer, dryer, fully equipped kitchen, two bedrooms, and complimentary soaps and coffee.

This unique Airbnb tucked away in the woods was perfect for our peaceful getaway. Incredibly clean, beautifully decorated, stocked with the essentials, and pristine views of the lake. Short 25 minute drive to Farmville/Longwood University. Be careful driving these roads at night; we spotted tons of deer. Would definitely recommend staying at this property!
