Waterfront holiday rentals in Praia Formosa

We stayed at Marco’s apartment with our 1-year-old baby and spent three wonderful weeks there. The accommodation is located in the sunniest part of the island. From the 4th floor, there’s a stunning view of the ocean from both terraces where you can watch the sunset too. The living room is bathed in sunlight all day and overlooks a peaceful park above the plaza. In my opinion, the apartment is even cozier than it appears in the photos and is fully equipped with everything you might need. We cooked and did laundry quite a lot during our stay. There are several restaurants, a hair salon, and a toy shop in the same building as the apartment. Across the street, there’s a greengrocer, and just a few steps away is a shopping mall. The playground is located in park just a block away from the apartment, and at the beginning of the street, there’s a traditional bakery filled with local delicacies. Communication with Marco was very smooth, he’s truly a wonderful host!

We were there as two friends and we enjoyed the accommodation and location very much. Very convenient in contrast to others is free parking on the premises. Everything was clean and the manager Edgar was always available for questions. Especially nice is that with clear skies, the beautiful sunset can be admired from both balconies.

What can I say… we have stayed in several Airbnbs abroad and in the Uk and this one hits the spot. Betty was a complete star. The location is perfect in every way. Restaurants, bus stop, Madeira Forum which has a fantastic supermarket and every shop you might need. The apartment was spotless, homely, lots of extras left to help in the first day or so. Then the views.. oh what a delight. My dad who has difficulty walking had an amazing time looking out to sea.. watching the weather and boats. Private car parking space for the hire car.. all on level ground with lifts which aided with the accessibility we needed! Utterly brilliant already planning two more holidays with Betty! Such a beautiful house with great view in Madeira. Bed was comfy and house was very clean! Jose and Fatima were very supportive and made my trip more enjoyable. Thank you very much!

Leila and Guy’s apartment is a fabulous property, it’s a real treat to stay there and if you like to prepare your own meals on occasion, there is everything you need along with great appliances. Also easy access to some excellent restaurants, supermarket, and great bakery. We loved the location and although we didn’t hire a vehicle, we were very happy with bus services. Communication with Leila and Guy was superb and both are very engaged with ensuring you have the best stay. Definitely somewhere we would like to return to. Top class accommodation!

Patrícia's apartment is ideally situated in the heart of Funchal, yet on a peaceful, quiet street. The apartment is spotless and fully equipped with everything you need. Patrícia also kindly left us some treats and was always quick to respond to any questions we had. I highly recommend this place!

We have very much enjoyed Madeira and this beautiful, bright and luxurious spacious apartment with privacy for everyone.

At first I did not think much about it. but then I absolutely loved it! right by the water, an easy walk to a very cool bar on the right and a place to go swimming, great vibe, and another easy walk to a nice village on the left. It's so relaxing, easy going, authentic. My wife and i had a great time. I recommend the location most of all.

Great location for being out of the thick of it, but close enough for regular buses into town, and with spectacular views over the harbour.

The house is very spacious, nice, clean and maintained. It has everything you need for a longer stay. Our kids loved the pool. The place is rather quiet (just some dog barking occasionally) and small but beautiful. There are restaurants and a cafe with mini market. A larger supermarket is about 10-15 minutes away. A rental car makes sense if you live in Porto da Cruz and want to make excursions. There are also buses. The car can be parked on the premises. Access to the house is possible without extremely steep roads (as it often exists in Madeira). We felt very comfortable in the house for 2 weeks and can highly recommend it.

Our stay in Madalena was fantastic - absolutely amazing views of the mountains and the ocean, immediately felt right at home. We stayed for 3 days and it was exactly the relaxing home we needed after long days of hiking. Filipe was extremely responsive and gave us a huge list of recommendations for the entire island. Ribeira Brava is a lovely little town and the accommodation is well located for hiking in all parts of the island. A hire car is essential but Gomez recommended a good local firm.

We had a great stay at Luis's place. the apartment has everything that you could need during the stay. We were unlucky with the weather during our stay but the apartment was very homely so it made it super comfortable to stay in on those bad weather evenings. I would definitely stay at Luis's place again and recommend Luis's place to anyone who wants somewhere quiet, a designated parking space, outdoor space and a homely feel. You will need a car for this stay and would recommend hiring a small car as some of the roads can be quite tight but this is the same around alot of areas on the island. Great stay all Round and Luis is a great host, very friendly, helpful and super respondent if you need anything. A great Airbnb host

Maria&Luara were fantastic and helpful hosts. The location of this apartment cannot be underestimated.This is the perfect location for Funchal and day tripping the entire Island. Having a place to park a car is bonus too as this gives flexibility to tour the island by car or take off on foot around Funchal.The property is steps to all the great restaurants,shopping and parks not forgetting the harbor right infront of the apartment too.Lots to explore on foot nearby thanks to the location.The balcony/terrace is huge and wraps around most of the apartment giving a spectacular almost 360 panoramic view of Funchal harbor, city and surrounding hills.This view is amazing at night and especially around Christmas time as absolutely everything is lit up with Christmas lights all around the city and up and down the hills and this balcony is truly the best place to see all this while relaxing with a drink on a mild evening. Also the view of the sunrise was also spectacular from the balcony deck.

The apartment was clean comfortable and a good size - it's in a good location within walking distance to supermarkets, bars ,restaurants and other attractions of Funchal - communication with Christine was good she was responsive and helpful, check in was easy - we arrived early and were able to leave our bags at the apartment which was helpful- I would recommend this apartment to anyone wishing to stay centrally in Funchal.

Great place with a lovely host. The location is very nice, walking distance to the sea and bathing areas. There are supermarkets and nice restaurants in the area. We saw the New Year fireworks from the building rooftop terrace!

Great place, superb location. Highly recommend

This was my 3rd stay here. An excellent place which is in a great location, with it being fairly quiet and only a 5/10 minute walk to plenty of restaurants and bars. Rooms very good, Kitchen seemed to have what we needed, and the terrace is superb. Can sit out in the sun or in the shade, lovely for a quiet breakfast looking at the sea. Around a 20-25 minute walk to the old town but buses and taxis easy and cheap enough if you cannot go that far. Will more than likely be back next year. 10/10

I loved my stay at Nelson's place. It's even more beautiful than the photos and the apartment is very big! Balcony views are breathtaking! Nelson was very quick to respond to my messages. Large public parking directly from the building to the accommodation. Quiet little village surrounded by banana plantations. I would 100% recommend!
