Wow - what a view!! This place has everything you need and more! The hot tub was fantastic - we did it ourselves (very helpful and easy to follow instructions). The kitchen has all you need with a store cupboard of staples. The bed is large and comfortable. It was very sunny when we visited so a little warm but I think that's rare for the west coast! Luckily we could open enough doors for a through breeze! Excellent comm from host and easy to get inside.

We booked the Ugly Duckling late in our planning, to fill in a gap when our accommodation choices in other towns weren’t available, and to break up the journey between Christchurch and Nelson. Turned out to be a real highlight of our trip, and would love to visit again. As other reviews said - comfy, homey, well equipped, and spacious enough when the rain kept us inside. Kids were entertained by the toys, games, and garden.

stunning place, had to keep pinching ourselves regarding the views from the balcony. Driveway was steap but easily manageable and the west coast was such an amazing place to visit! id recommend this home for anyone wanting to take the trip. Great location. Well kept and completely unique, we loved the balcony!!

Carol's place has almost everything we needed. WiFi, TV, complete kitchen utensils for cooking, fridge and chiller for food storage, nice comfy big beds for each rooms, complete bathroom sets, liquid or solid bath soaps, shampoo and conditioners. Clothes iron, vacuum cleaner. parking space. Suggested Hokitika activities and restaurants. Name it! It's all in the house except the laundry. I reckoned Carol and her behalf are well experienced AirBnB hosts and it's really worth the money renting their house. Personally, what I like is their flexibility with our check out as we needed to go to Sunday church. Thanks Carol and your behalf for a very satisfying stay at your place.

This has been my fifteenth BnB since coming to NZ about three months ago and one of my very favorites so far. Was it George's hospitality? Was it the very modern kitchen? Was it the very comfortable bed? Was it the pristine bathroom? Or the large, comfortable living room? Or the great laundry features? Yes! All those things and more! But when you step into the living room and see the view of the Okari river mouth steps from the front deck, along with the Tasman sea beyond, you know why you came here! Are there stores, shops, or cafes in Cape Foul Wind. No, but Westport is about a 15 minute drive north if that's your desire. So bring all your supplies for your stay. There's plenty to do. Stroll kilometers of pristine beaches or the river at low tide. Tauranga Bay beach is just up the road if you fancy surfing or just watching the rollers pounding the amazing rock formations. Or take a stroll to the lighthouse and the seal colony. I wish I had stayed longer! Highly recommend!
