If you want a traditional homestay conveniently located and a great host this is your place. Abebe is the best host Ive ever had, showed me around, met me at places, looked for a great guide to the churches/monasteries and even in Addis. He knows Lalibela very well and everyone in town knows him. His place is simple but clean, comfortable and safe. Shops, restaurants, and even ATM are within walking distance. Met also his friends and they were extremely friendly. I had a great time, definitely the cultural experience I wanted.

My stay in Seyfu’s place was astonishing. It was beyond my expectations. The house is beautiful, clean, and peaceful, which is near to the breathtaking Lalibela’s rock-hewn churches – just a walking distance and no need to take a transport. Seyfu was not only an exceptional host but also an incredibly knowledgeable and dedicated guide in Lalibela. His passion for Lalibela’s history and culture shone through his detailed explanation. Further, his family were also lovely, which made my stay so special – for sure, I would do it again. Thanks very much for your outstanding hospitality and guidance, and I hope to see you again soon!

The hotel was really great and within walking distance (about 20 minutes) to the churches. The service was great - all of the staff was so friendly and accommodating. Their restaurant food was delicious, room was very clean, airport pick up and drop off went smoothly and was affordable. Definitely recommend.

Dessiew is a phenomenal host he is happy to organise as much or as little as you require. Breakfast is superb and it’s a great place to meet other travellers. The WiFi is good as is the hot water. The homestay is a walk out of town which is fun during the day and easy by tuktuk at night. He sorted airport shuttle for us and his place is a 2 minute walk from the bus station if that’s how you arrive/depart. He’s planning a garden and a roof terrace - we’ll be back!

We were picked up at the airport, which is 20 minutes away. We stayed for two nights in this very clean and nice apartment. A tasteful breakfast on the balcony with the breathtaking vieuw is very special. Haftamu is easy to reach and reacts fast. He tipped us for a very good guide for the rockchurces. Entrance to the Unesco-side is 100 USD (you can also pay in Birr). We gave the guide for the whole day 2450 Birr. Personel of Haftamu, very nice ladys who live nearby, suggest that we take dinner at Unique, a little restaurant nearby where we had a good and tasty pizza. The guide of the rockchurches tippes us the next day for Segeret, a restaurant on the third floor at the central square, also very tasteful. We had to deal with curvieuw, but that was no problem for us.

Staying with Birhan’s hotel was a great, peaceful experience for my partner and I. Birhan made us feel welcomed, safe and informed. Organised our trip to see Lalibela Church’s and our fantastic guide. We are very appreciative of our stay and would highly recommend staying at this hotel with kind people. Birhan is always there to answer any questions before and during your stay. The hotel itself is beautiful with amazing scenic views of the mountains from your windows. Inside your room you have beautiful handmade furnitures with detail. All in all you will not regret your stay here! Thanks Birhan again 🙏
