Family-friendly holiday rentals in North Cowichan

Alexandra's Airbnb in Nanaimo, BC was just great--so much so that with regard to the star ratings I wish I could have given greater than five! In fact, the location gives life to the slogan Beautiful BC, situated on the coast as it is with full view of the islands and inlets which give coastal British Columbia its unique flavor. We enjoyed the hot tub, and beach below, views of the ferries and bird life and tides, the weather coming in and so much more. The binoculars on the table upstairs got a lot of use, and were one of the many neat features of this lovely house. Plus, the easy access to town was perfect for us! Thank you, Alexandra, for a lovely time, and we hope to be return guests if you'll have us in the not too distant future!

We have stayed at this place a few times now and always enjoy our visit. It’s perfect for a big group, has a well stocked kitchen, a cozy fireplace and a wonderful hot tub with views of the beautiful yard. Will be back next year!

This is a little slice of heaven nuzzled into a wooden hillside - completely private and secluded. Great views and all the amenities of home. This wasn’t our first visit and it definitely will not be the last. Thanks for being such a great host!

Jane was a fantastic host! Her place was cozy, we had a long stay and enjoyed every minute! The hot tub was a perfect way to end each day…we had the most incredible weather. Easy walking distance to downtown.

This was our first time in Sooke and we shared Fredrick’s place with a friend we hadn’t seen in years. The warm home like environment, the separate bedroom ,bathroom spaces worked perfectly. The views were wonderful and we dined and explored the area easily. We wished we could have stayed longer.

We had a lovely stay on Mayne in Kate's cozy cabin. The hot tub was great, and we loved the quiet forest setting. Mayne is also a nice island for cycling - fairly quiet roads, and slightly less hilly than some of the other Gulf Islands? An excellent spot for an extended weekend getaway!

Such a beautiful and peaceful spot. Gorgeous views from all the large lovely windows, even the soaker tub, but with privacy too. Cozy condo style, with sleeping, lounging, bathing and food prep areas efficiently separated. Tastefully furnished with little extras to make it homey. Loved the fireplace for our winter visit. Some things could use a refresh to bring back to the way it was in the photos, but it was clean and totally functional. Would love to visit again in the summer!

We enjoyed our peaceful stay at this beautiful cottage. It was fantastic and even better then what we had thought. The view of the water and sunset was spectacular. Loved everything about this cottage and definitely recommend. It's just lovely. Seen plenty of hummingbirds a huge woodpecker a raccoon jelly fish and star fish. There are plenty of things to see surrounding area or just peaceful staying put and relaxing. We enjoyed Superbowl on the 80 inch TV as well as surround sound music. Loved the woodstoves and we used both. The warmth and feel was so nice. The hot tub was a great experience under the full moon. I would suggest adding 4 bath robes for future guests. I think it would be nice to wrap up in robes especially on the way when it's chilly. Great library full of books with cozy chair to sit and relax. I enjoyed a couple different brands of tea which were available. Three nights was just perfect for us as we are now off on another adventure. It's a 5 star. Wendy Kev Jess Liz

This cabin was so dreamy! On our drive in, we spotted a beautiful gray fox and a few deer. The forest surrounding the cabin is just beautiful. The cabin had everything we needed. I thought I wouldn’t like to walk to the bath house, but honestly I thoroughly enjoyed it. It’s only a short walk, and it gives you multiple chances to spot wildlife. The bath house is clean and has everything you need. I especially enjoyed the French press coffee and slow mornings reading in the cabin

Would absolutely recommend this spot! It's exactly what we needed for a weekend trip up from Seattle. We walked Commercial Ave quite a lot and had a blast at the vintage and book shops, had delicious sushi and coffee, and also spent a good amount of time just kickin' it in the cozy place on the couch. Mieke was quick to respond. Perfect location, well stocked, super easy check-in and out, within our budget, and just all around adorbs. Book it!

The host was very kind and quick to respond to our requests. The interior, kitchen and bedrooms were clean and wonderful.

Rosie's Studio exceeded our already high expectations from reading the online reviews. You get unlimited access to feeding the friendly goats; Bella, a super gentle and playful golden retriever who comes and goes as she pleases (and will tease you into playing fetch!); and a stunningly peaceful farm stay with incredible views all the way to Mt Baker. The studio itself was great - clean and with lots of character, including the large circular windows that provide an ideal foreground for photos of the view. We really appreciated the breakfast staples and treats that Trish left, as well as the art supplies. When you're not out exploring Salt Spring, this is a great place to just relax, and my wife used the art supplies to paint the landscape, adding it to the wall of art from prior guests. Location wise, it's about 20 minutes to Ganges by car. We enjoyed it, as it felt far enough away from everything to feel secluded, but everything was still convenient. Perfect stay!

The place was amazing! It was clean, spacious, and perfect for a family stay. One of the highlights was the yard—it was super convenient for our dog, who had such a great time. The host was very accommodating and regularly checked in to make sure we had everything we needed, which made us feel well taken care of. Overall, I highly recommend this property! We’ll definitely be coming back.

Their dog, Iyla (sp?), is a very friendly Collie which got along with my dog wonderfully. The setting is peaceful, beautiful, and rural without being removed from amenities. I'd recommend this place to anyone.

We had a wonderful stay in this beautiful basement suite! The area is really quiet and the place was outfitted with everything we needed to feel at home - we especially appreciated the extra treats (the muffins were delicious!). We highly recommend staying here!

Our two days at the Station House were truly delightful! Laura was very kind and welcoming. The cozy, well-designed space instantly made me feel at home. It had all the fine touches to make our stay memorable and comfortable. The location was perfect, with beautiful views and easy access to the Galloping Goose Trail. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a relaxing and enjoyable getaway.

A perfect location to explore the island-close to town, walking trails. Walk to Saltspring Wild Cidery! Very clean, comfortable, and well provisioned. Great Saltspring stay!

Mona was very responsive and helpful with the booking and was quick to respond. I went for a conference work trip and she accommodated us on an earlier check in. Mona gave great detailed instructions for check in and check out. Parking was easy to access once you got into the parkade and it’s close/ secure. I felt very safe in the space , it was immaculate, clean and well decorated. I would stay again, thanks Mona!

My family of four stayed at Nyna's to attend a wedding over the Labour Day long weekend and enjoy some relaxation time at Rathtrevor Beach. The cabin had an absolutely perfect location for our purposes. It is an easy 20-minute walk to the beach, but we also drove to Rathtrevor whenever the kids insisted on bringing an excessive number of toys to play in the sand. The cabin itself was exactly as described and pictured. We were not entirely sure of our check-in time due to needing to pick up supplies on our way to the cabin, but Nyna still stuck around to welcome us in person upon our arrival and give us a personal tour of the place. She was an extremely responsive and helpful host. We would highly recommend her place to anyone wishing to stay in the area. Thank you, Nyna!

If you are fortunate enough to book Donald’s property, you will not be disappointed. My sister and I booked this unit and were so happy that we did. The property houses many more people, but it was also great for just the two of us. We both had our own bedroom and bathroom. So nice. The location is awesome. We walked on the beach and just relaxed. The pool and hot tub were great. This is a beautiful place and we will definitely be back hopefully. Thanks to Donald and his cleaning lady. Cheers Sandra

Eddie was very responsive and his place fully met our needs. If we had let them, our young kids would not have left the apt 😂 Swimming, looking out onto the city, doing puzzles - all provided hours of entertainment! Thank you for letting us stay at your place, Eddie.

Fantastic place to stay! I’ve been in the building for multiple stays, but Lynn’s room is the best stay I’ve had by far! Walkable to many great eats and convenience groceries, transit, and even a Costco! Highly recommend.

Super convenient and comfortable. Enjoyed gas fireplace, pool table and comfortable beds. Host was extremely responsive and helpful. We would definitely stay again.
