Holiday houses in Nagawa, Chiisagata District

This house was so charming, and the area is absolutely gorgeous! It was a great experience of traditional countryside living with a few modern amenities thrown in (the high tech bathroom and toilets were appreciated!). A word to the wise though: what the listing says about cold weather is no joke! We stayed in mid-November and ended up catching the first couple below-freezing nights of the season, and while the host warned us the house would be chilly with only kerosene heating, we were unprepared for the discovery that the house’s power couldn’t handle keeping heaters on in more than two rooms at a time without blowing the breakers! Aside from the bathroom and one bedroom we kept heated, it was so cold we could see our breath indoors for the entire duration of our stay! The house is wonderful but I would recommend thinking of this as more akin to glamping than, say, a fully outfitted cottage. If the weather is nice, I can’t imagine a more charming place to be!

There was a place outside with an irori fireplace and a stylish dining space, so I felt that it might be possible to enjoy it to the fullest if you use it in summer rather than in winter.

It was quite an adventure to get there as we came in winter and it was pretty dark. However, it didn’t took us long to be able to locate the beautiful house. The house is very well equipped with the necessary items! We stayed for two nights with our two boys! We all had a good rest! Bathroom is big for Japan standard and very comfortable. We really enjoyed the peace, fresh air and away from the crowd! We could have just stay in the room and stare at the scenery! The place looks exactly like the photo and the peacefulness was what we needed! Thank you! If you are making a trip to Karuizawa and you want to be away from the usual crowd, this is the place for you!

You cannot expect a better reception and overall management of your stay in a Airbnb property. Thanks to both of you. The house is as you see in the description, beautiful, welcoming, functional, clean, quality. Very peaceful surroundings not far from a well serviced town, close to ski resorts and a fabulous Onsen. You obviously need a car to make it there but driving in Japan is extremely easy and pleasant. One can dream of owning a house like this and having friends like Matt and Maya.

Francisco, great host, instructions are very clear, the property is located away from the highway, peaceful and quiet. Stayed in November 2024, falls season and the surrounding area beautiful with autumn foliage. the woods with nature.

Our stay at Ember View was an incredible experience. It’s located in a small peaceful neighborhood that’s surrounded by mountains. It took us about 30 to 40 minutes to get up to Hakuba Ski Resort, which is adorable if you’re planning to go. It was about an hour drive away from Nagano City and 2 hour drive to the Snow Monkey park. These sounds far but the drive is gorgeous and worth the effort. The Airbnb was super cozy with a kitchen with all the utensils and cookware needed to make your own meals. The bath gets and stays suuuuper hot. The loft’s futons were very comfy. If you want to stay nearby the house in Omachi, Mike provides a nice list of things to do. He was also very responsive and patient with any questions we had. Definitely recommend and would stay here with family or friends any time! If you are staying in the winter (later December~) you will need snow tires!
