Pet-friendly holiday rentals in Mission Bay

My husband and I have to travel to San Diego a lot, and always make a point of seeking out highly-rated Airbnbs in Ocean Beach. Dennis & Julie’s is one of the best-rated and best-reviewed we’ve seen, and it lives up to its reputation. Easy to access, warm and comfortable, squeaky clean, up-to-date in terms of appliances and amenities (they even put out water and food bowls for the puppy), and best of all — for us, at least — two blocks from the dog beach. I also appreciate their policy of asking you to check in with them as soon as you arrive, to let them know if everything is to your liking. We couldn’t figure out how to operate one of the ceiling fans, and we texted their associate Trever at the number provided, and he got back to us with the answer within minutes. We look forward to returning.

I was willing to pay extra for the location, and boy, did that pay off! I wound up proposing to my fiancée at the top of the street, where a private, secluded cliffside bluff exists. You have to tiptoe down a pathway, but thank goodness we'd walked home from Newport Ave the night before where I located the quintessential proposal spot! Otherwise, the Airbnb worked out terrifically. The neighborhood is delightful; you're so close to all the action in downtown Ocean Beach. 15-minute walk places you right near the bars, restaurants, and shops. Traffic getting in and out of the neighborhood was a breeze. No issues getting rideshares, either. We loved the little compound the owners have set up. There's a grill for each house plus a shared hot tub that we took advantage of using. The apartment itself is a bit outdated, and the price point might be on the higher end. But you're paying for the scenery, proximity to action, and private space.

This was a great place, just as described, lots of charm and a perfect amount of space. What stood out most was how responsive and helpful Chris was. He immediately answered messages and was more than willing to be helpful and offer solutions. Everything was great and my family really appreciated his help. The property feels like someone actually lived there at one point - real art, books on the shelves, useful kitchen tools. Would stay again and thought it was a great spot!

We rented Gabe’s 3 bed/2 bath house in UH and it was fantastic! Our family of 5 stayed a week and truth be told, I wanted to stay forever! From the beginning Gabe was extremely cordial and promptly responded to our questions. The house was exactly like the pictures posted. We loved Gabe’s artistic decor style. We appreciated the privacy of the rooms and having a European style restroom in the MS was a plus. The beds were very comfy, and we didn’t really need the AC, but appreciated it’s availability. Whatever we needed to feel at home, this place had it, from multiple clean towels, crisp linens, makeup towels (I didn’t use it but nice detail) to a Keurig, and condiments. We enjoyed making breakfast at the house as a family. We didn’t use the shared jacuzzi. Maybe next time! Plenty of parking in the area in this quiet quaint neighbor in the heart of UH walking distance from grocery stores and restaurants. We had a great time. Felt right at home. Can’t wait to come back! Awesome place, great location

We had a wonderful stay with our two young kids. The bunk room was very fun for them! The location cannot be beat. We walked out to the beach in 30 seconds every morning! We had rented a Jeep Cherokee and it just fit in the parking spot. I can’t see how more than 1 car could fit in the spot. The house is also a little tricky to find until you know where to turn. The street name is not listed on the side of the road where you turn. Tip: turn right at the pink house! We also visited in February and it got quite chilly at night. All the bedrooms were equipped with space heaters and the property manager was very responsive when I inquired about them. Depending on when you travel, be proactive and get those running at night time. The washer and dryer in the kitchen was a lifesaver! And the kitchen was stocked with anything you could ever need. We had so much fun and cannot wait to come back again!

If I could rate over 5 stars I totally would. We felt right at home staying here. This is the best place I’ve stayed at. The hosts did everything and more to make us feel right at home. Very quick response time if we had questions. Can’t wait to go back.

We had a lovely weekend in Ocean Beach for the holiday parade and the opening of our son and daughter-in-law's new indoor playspace and bookstore Bluebird Play (above the Noodle House at Niagara and Bacon). The house is adorable. Beds and couches were comfortable, and the property was quiet and also well supplied. Everything was clean and ready for our stay. Would definitely stay again if going to this part of San Diego.

We really enjoyed our stay! The home had everything we needed, and spending time in the backyard was the perfect getaway. Beautiful views of Mission Bay from the balconies. Very nice for a large group!

House was clean and comfortable. Check in and check out went smoothly. Communication was great with the owner. Perfectly accommodated our family and location was great. We loved that Better Buzz was within walking distance for a coffee! Grocery store and restaurants also close by. Would highly recommend this rental!

We loved our stay here and would 100% stay again! We chose this listing for its proximity to the Zoo and Balboa Park, but would have been very happy staying in our entire stay. It is a beautifully updated, spacious craftsman home with stunning details and stocked with everything you need. The outdoor space is gorgeous. Large yard and we appreciated the pool was heated enough to enjoy even during cooler weather! Comfy beds. Great for a family. Even though we didn’t need a lot of it, we felt good knowing the place was stocked with baby/toddler essentials on hand, and appreciated the thoughtfulness to make this a family-friendly place with things like outlet safety plugs, extra toys, books, and noisemakers! The host has thought of everything, and was very responsive, helpful, and accommodating. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Great location. Pool and hot tub as advertised. Good value. Could use a little sprucing up cosmetically (scuffed walls) and the TV's were a little confusing (lots of remotes, no instructions). But overall an excellent stay. Would book again. Highly recommend.

We had an amazing stay at Bruce’s place! He was an incredibly friendly and helpful host—he even surprised us with a bottle of wine and a huge crocodile floatie for the kids, which they loved. The house is an entertainer's dream, with a large pool (heated by the San Diego sun), 6-person hot tub, and outdoor sauna. The backyard has a beach-like sand area with a fire pit, plenty of seating, and an outdoor bar. Inside, the game room with a pool table and ping pong table kept us entertained, and the well-equipped kitchen made cooking easy. Bruce lives on the property but we had complete privacy. The home is spacious, secure, and perfect for families or groups of friends. Highly recommend—thanks, Bruce!

Love our stay atTiggs home. Was amazing dogs got to swim. We walked to the beach rode by to pickle ball all around great trip.

Another Perfect Stay! This was our second time staying at this Airbnb, and it was just as amazing as the first! The place is always spotless, cozy, and well-equipped with everything we need for a comfortable stay. The attention to detail and thoughtful touches make it feel like a home away from home. The hot tub and pool are always a favorite for our large group! The BlueWhale is a fantastic host, always responsive and accommodating, making the whole experience seamless. Rich and Adrienne's place was the perfect beach getaway. It was quiet, comfortable, and well-organized. They've used the space efficiently. The home was very clean and inviting. The kitchen was thoughtfully well stocked. We cooked several meals and had everything we needed and more! We enjoyed the outdoor space and the short walk to the beach. We appreciated the beach gear including a cooler, chairs, boogie boards, and toys. The hosts provided local recommendations on arrival and were quick to respond when asked about specific things like bike rentals, providing great, local recommendations. It was an easy walk to the two main areas of OB with restaurants and shopping. We would absolutely stay here again with our party of two adults and one teenager. This is a real gem in OB.

Beatrice's cottage was just perfect for our week long stay in San Diego. The sofa and recliner were super comfortable,as was the bed. We were delighted to that she, like me, is a coffee/tea afficianado so no matter what kind of coffee system you use - she's got you covered. The bed was very comfortable as was the daybed (which came in handy as our daughter joined us for 2 nights during our stay). The entire home was clean well appointed with anything you could possibly need. Beatrice left super clear directions for everything! There is a very private fenced in patio , which we didn't really use because it was unseasonably chilly when we were ethere, but in nicer weather I would have very much enjoyed it. We bought our sweet little yorkie with us, and she was quite comfortable and happy as well.

We loved the place, very clean and looks just like the pictures, perfect location, very close to everything we wanted to visit. Nice backyard and the place was stocked with everything you can think of. I would definitely try to book this place again when visiting San Diego in the future!

Lisa’s place is always the first place I search for when planning a trip to San Diego. Perfect location to avoid the congestion in mission valley or downtown, and it’s only 10 minutes from SDSU if you’re visiting your kid there.

Great location and friendly responsive host. Easy check in and out. Clean and comfortable space with all the basics we needed. Showing some wear and tear but suited us perfectly.

This was a great find for us. We were in town to see our new Grandson and this was perfect. After spending all day with our daughter, son-in-law and grandson we often had dinner in Kensington that was conveniently located. The bathroom, bedroom and kitchen were all wonderful. It was great having fresh fruit, coffee and cookies when we arrived. Olga’s son Alex let us in and did a great job helping us understand everything. We def will be back

Elizabeth was amazing from start to finish! From a welcoming bottle of wine to a relaxing and peaceful space. Everything was well kept and accessible to our desire. The hot tub was amazing! There was always plenty of parking whenever we came back from going out, which was amazing. The area was just 15 min from where our adventures were set. It was great no traffic and all our plans went smoothly! Thank you Beth!
