A great stay at a beautiful location so peaceful and quiet. The hosts Kevin & Margaret are lovely people very welcoming. A lovely basket of goodies on arrival. The hot tub is a great addition to the property. We needed a quiet relaxing break and that's exactly what we got.

We absolutely loved our stay and can’t thank Gill enough. She is a top host and made sure all of our needs were met. The house itself is massive inside, warm, cosy and amazing. The house was clean, everything was tidy and oozed quality everywhere. We received a tour upon reaching the house and given instructions and where to find help if we needed to use any facilities in the house. The hot tub was set up, cleaned and at right temperature on arrival too so no fussing for us. Beds were comfy and spacious, bathrooms too. Don’t hesitate to book up if you need a getaway for some family time or just to relax. Thank you.

This is a return trip for us as we enjoyed it so much on our previous visit. We were made to feel very much at home, and Laura goes out of her way to make things as perfect as possible. The small details make all the difference, the dog treats and chocolate for my sons to the wine and brownies left in the spotless, well equipped kitchen. The property is very tastefully decorated, both clean and cosy, the log burner is a real plus too. Many thanks for a wonderful weekend!

Lovely homely cottage. Cottage was well supplied with all we needed for our stay. Sarah was very responsive to any queries we had(which fortunately were few). As we visited in Winter and the drive up to the house was pitch black it would have been helpful to have a few lights along the way as there were a few potholes at entrance which were no problem once you know where they were. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay and a big thank you to Sarah for hosting us.

Such a beautiful spot and lovely house. Everything was spotless and beautifully curated. We loved sitting with the doors open onto the garden. We had sunshine and warmth amazing for February!

We loved our stay at Shortflatt Cottage. The location is perfect for a peaceful getaway and the scenery is beautiful. The cottage itself is beautiful and had everything we needed for our week. We cooked most days in the well equipped kitchen and there was nothing missing. Everything was clean, the house is cozy and comfortable. We will certainly be back.

This really is a very special place to stay. The location is perfect, right by the sea and a few minutes walk from restaurants and shops. It's very easy to get into Newcastle from here as well. There's a lovely walk along the Tyne to the North Shields Fish Quay, it looks beautiful at night. Parking is easy and very convenient, right outside the cottage. Deborah is a fantastic host who goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome. We will certainly be back and I am recommending the place to my friends and family.

We absolutely loved staying at Chris's place. It is a perfect size for us and beautifully decorated and very tasteful! It felt like home from home which was great as we spent Christmas there. The bed was very comfy too. We immediately booked for the following year. Chris was easy to get hold of. The area is great for dog walking. A perfect stay.

We were down in Newcastle for a family event but needed a place to stay that would accept a dog. Deobrah's place was the closest we could find in that regard but was really close to a bus route that only took 20 mins to the city centre for £2. Due to the fact we were back and forth to Newcastle, we didn't get the chance to properly explore the surroundings but we knew we were right on some beautiful countryside and next to some lovely walks. One thing to note for people bringing their dog, is the fact it's a studio set-up. So the dog is sleeping in the same room basically - not something we usually do. But it's a good sized room and it doesn't feel crowded at all. One other suggestion for visitors is to bring a torch if you're likely to be in/out at night. It's down a country road so very dark - but that's means great for star gazing!! Deborah herself was great. Really helpful, very responsive and willing to offer suggestions. Lastly - I found the bed very comfortable!

A perfect, charming cottage in the countryside. Everything we needed. Even a fireplace! The host is friendly, answeres quicly and is informative. We would love to come back some time.

Loved this comfortable , warm cosy cottage. Attractively furnished well maintained and thoughtfully provisioned,everything there we needed including cleaning products which isn’t always the case.Sharon’s notes were helpful and reassuring eg spills on furniture happen she just asked should one occur we let her know . Appreciated that she let us know the cottage was available a little earlier and check in was easy. Thank you for a great stay. Hope to return before too long

Lovely cottage Immaculately clean, modern with comfortable king bed and great kitchen and bathroom Convenient for Durham and the Beamish Museum which is why we stayed here Addy is a good host We would definitely return again

Excellent cottage overlooking fields with alpacas. Paul was very helpful and responsive even set up electric hook up to charge our car

My wife and I stayed for a few days with our dog between Christmas and New Year. We immediately felt at home in the cottage, which was comfortable, quiet and had everything we needed. We would thoroughly recommend staying, especially if you are travelling with a dog. The accommodation inside and out is absolutely ideal!

Came away for New Year, and it was absolutely perfect! Just what we needed! Highly recommend The Owl & Otter and a day at Beamish Addy was a lovely host - very attentive
