Pet-friendly holiday rentals in James City

Our stay was perfect! Even our pups felt like they were on vacation and had a great time!! We very much enjoyed the comfort of the home, a fully stocked kitchen so I could cook some home meals for my son, and chilling out on the back porch under the gazebo while the dogs ran around the back yard. She even left toys and treats for the pups and the home was fully prepared and welcoming for our dogs! We’ve stayed in pet friendly homes before but once arriving weren’t as pet friendly as we would have thought. This one was by far the best!!

Ed’s place was perfect for our quick getaway. His house is just as described. In a nice, quiet neighborhood with views of the sound/intercostal and unique canals. Easy walk (4 min) to the beach and short (5 min) drive to the heart of Surf City and the bridge. Place was clean, comfortable, and had everything you’d need. Ed is very responsive, and a great host. We’d love to return.

I always love staying here. It’s perfect for the 2 of us and our dogs. Very cozy and comfortable and just steps to the beach. I make a drink, leash the dogs, grab a chair and am on the beach in 2 minutes or less. It’s absolutely perfect and with the south facing beach you can enjoy both the gorgeous sunrise and beautiful sunset over the ocean!

We had the most amazing stay at this beach house! From the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the peaceful, private vibe of the place. The house was spotless, beautifully decorated, and had everything we needed — fully stocked kitchen, comfy beds, covered parking, and multiple decks for lounging. Waking up and eating breakfast on the deck was pure magic. The beach was just steps away and felt like our own little slice of paradise. We also appreciated the host’s thoughtful touches and quick communication — they truly went above and beyond to make sure we felt at home. If you’re looking for a relaxing, picture-perfect beach retreat, this is it. We’re already planning our next trip back!

Beautiful charming old house perfect for our 2 day visit. The beds were so cozy and linens were so incredibly soft. We loved all the extras, hair ties, q-tips, shampoo, plenty of towels. The host thought of everything extra to do for guests. We would stay again as it was a perfect location to walk to everything downtown.

Very spacious home right by the sound. Enjoyed sunrises and sunsets at this perfectly located house. Wonderful space for the family. We had tons of fun and enjoyed spending time in this space. The pool table was loads of fun and the hot tub was wonderful. It was warm enough that that we could enjoy meals outdoors. This house is close to everything so it was east to run to the store for anything we missed.

Our family had a wonderful stay at Jeff and Julie's place for the weekend, checking in on Friday and enjoying two delightful nights before our Sunday morning checkout. The home was fully equipped with everything we could possibly need, and then some! Its proximity to the beach was fantastic—just a short walk away. We particularly loved the amazing backyard, which was perfect for our four-legged friend to explore and play. Additionally, many local shops were conveniently close to the house. Thank you, Jeff and Julie, for being such gracious hosts and making our stay so enjoyable!

My family recently stayed at Joseph’s place and had a wonderful experience! The location was unbeatable—just a short, easy walk to the beach, which made it so convenient for quick trips back and forth. The inside of the rental was spotless and well-maintained, and it had all the amenities you could possibly need for a comfortable stay. From kitchen supplies to cozy furniture, nothing was missing. We also felt incredibly safe throughout my stay, with secure entrances. Overall, it was the perfect place for a relaxing beach getaway, and I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a hassle-free, comfortable stay by the beach!

Lovely location and beautiful home with nice yard.

Really enjoyed our time here. It is very close to the beach and also beach access. The kitchen is quite large and accommodates cooking a large meal. We have three kids and there was plenty of room to sleep comfortably. Not sure how crowded this part of the beach gets in the Summer, but the location is amazing and not having to find parking is such a benefit for this area. Secluded environment, yet not more that 15 minutes from a full grocery store. You are sort of limited on TV options here to what apps are on the tv (the rules ask you not to add any apps) so a firestick of your own or an HDMI cord to connect your laptop is something I would recommend. Would definitely stay here again.

My husband and I do not usually stay at Air bnb's because of a couple bad experiences. Now that we have two kids we needed a kitchen and more space than a hotel. David and Patricia's house was absolutely perfect. There were some toys for the kids, a fenced in backyard for my 3 year old to run, and so many other conveniences. We felt at home immediately. We will be staying here for any future visits. Thank you for having us !

The Downtown Hideaway was the perfect location to walk to the Christmas floatilla. It’s perfect walking distance to anywhere on the water front. We really enjoyed our stay here.
