Family-friendly holiday rentals in Hawaiian Beaches

This location and house is absolutely fabulous. The host makes everything super clear in the instruction manual, the house is immaculate and very easy to get accustomed too. My only complaint is that I couldn’t stay longer. The hot tub was a gift from god, the beds were all comfortable, all the furniture was super cozy, we loved our stay and would 1,000% book this place again. Mahalo nui!

Kenji was absolutely accomodating to our party of 8. He is such a hospitable host, and made everything so easy for our planning. The house was immaculate, and very spacious. He also made himself readily available should we needed anything. The neighborhood was a quiet neighborhood, so it made for a peaceful stay. The view of the ocean is beautiful from this home as well. Altogether, we enjoyed our stay in this house. I would highly recommend any one to stay at his home.

The Eco hale is a very special place with great Aloha. The sounds of the birds, chickens roaming, beautiful native gardens and fruit trees provide a very peaceful Hawai’i vibe. But what makes this place truly special is Kaeo’s warm welcome and her attention to detail. From the delicious pupus and thoughtful snacks and fruit to the many small details in the decor and amenities. The small space is artfully curated. Every day we discovered something new, like the container full of thoughts of the day, the scrapbook with info and random articles of interest, or just the unique decor pieces. The house is close enough to the volcano and we were fortunate to witness Madame Pele’s spectacular eruption which lasted only 22 hours. So glad we followed Kaeo’s advice and went right away to see it at night. We also enjoyed a few other hikes in the park over the next few days (pass is good for 7 days). The welcome and Aloha in this place will no doubt be one of the highlights of our trip.

The house in Volcano was just what my husband and I needed for a peaceful and relaxing stay. The home is located in a quiet neighborhood that is easy to find, and very close to the National Park. Be prepared to either pick up groceries in Hilo and cook at the house, or be aware of the changing times of the local food trucks. Otherwise, this is a great place to stay!

Absolutely loved staying at Emily’s house! It was very private and surrounded by nature. The location is beautiful and highly recommended if you love seclusion. It’s about a 15 minute drive to Volcano National Park so it’s very convenient!

This place is unbelievable. You feel like you somehow became a multi-billionaire and have a private lodge in the jungle. While the host and manager/owner, Michael, is on property along with workers that help groom the place, your privacy is paramount to them and it shows. Michael is amazing and fun to talk with. His knowledge of the area and the grounds is first rate. I literally cannot say enough good things about this stay. We have stayed in some amazing places in many countries, but this is probably our favorite. Make sure you tour the grounds with Michael, and take the time to pick your own fruit and cut flowers. We can’t wait for another trip to the Hilo area to stay here again.

We booked Danielle's place for our quick visit to Volcanoes National Park on the Big Island of Hawaii. Having stayed in the same neighborhood on a trip before, we were familiar with the area, and Danielle's place did not disappoint. The large, three bedroom, easily sleeps six. clean and welcoming. Danielle is a friendly host who communicates very well. It is a great space for a family trip. A great value.

From the start Jim was ready to invite us into this amazing place! It has such a unique and nice atmosphere as soon as you walk in. My wife and I stayed for 7 nights and it was so peaceful with the sounds of nature around you. The beds were comfortable with plenty of linens and pillows to choose from. The shower was amazing with always available hot water. WiFi available so we never missed an opportunity to make plans in town and explore what was nearby. Great location near Pāhoa and Hilo so very easy to explore all this side of the island has to offer! Jim is a top notch host with amazing hospitality and kindness from the start. If you’re looking for a one of a kind stay, this is it!

Kayo and Roby are incredibly gracious, warm, and welcoming hosts. Windspirit cottage is perfect: completely self contained, peaceful beautiful surroundings, short drive to Hawaii Volcanoes NP and amenities. This was my fourth stay and I hope to return again! Highly recommended.

Had a great time in this private and peaceful accommodation. Ashley was very friendly and responsive and provided us with privacy and easy communication. This place provides a unique and relaxing glamping style stay. It rained very hard the first night and sounded beautiful as it’s an open air room but still felt very secure and everything stayed dry. After the rain the coqui were plentiful so it may not be for everyone but I found it to be soothing and peaceful. My only recommendation is maybe to hang a mirror in the shower room or in the kitchen/bathroom area. Mahalo for a great stay!

We had an incredible month-long stay at Tamara’s place in Pahoa! Her home was spotless, well-equipped, and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Tamara was an excellent host, always quick to respond and resolve any requests. The location is truly magical—nestled in the heart of a lush rainforest with friendly neighbors, it’s a peaceful and unique setting. The proximity to Hilo and the Kalapana area was fantastic. We loved visiting the vibrant Uncle Awa’s night market on Wednesday evenings and the lively Sunday drum circle in Seaview Estates which is just a 15-minute drive away. Pahoa itself is a charming town with welcoming and helpful locals. It’s also a great base for exploring the island: Volcanoes National Park is only 40 minutes away, Mauna Kea about 45 minutes, and even Kona is in drivable distance. A delightful surprise was the two adorable stray cats that often visited—they added so much charm to our stay. Thanks Tamara for making our stay so memorable!

Great place to go off the grid. It had everything we needed. One of the staff members greeted us when we got there and showed us around. Very friendly and answered all our questions. A+. Beautiful place, would recommend. Just don't park under the coconut trees. :)

The view! What an amazing location. We saw whales in the bay right outside our lanai a few mornings. The space worked perfectly for our group of 7 girlfriends. Plenty of beds and bathroom space. The home is quite old, but we loved the character and evident history. Everything was very clean and tidy and well stocked. Really nice updated kitchen was wonderful. We were close to everything we wanted to do and enjoyed relaxing at the house in the mornings and evenings while enjoying the view. Though right across from a public beach, the house felt quiet and safe. Richard’s recommends ahead of time were spot on and helpful in making plans in advance. Thank you for a fabulous stay! We’d love to return someday!

This was one of many stays I have had with jade at the MLT. it’s a great place to unwind and recenter. Always such a great time over on kalapana side and the temple is a great place to enjoy that side of the island. My friend forgot her jacket with her credit card and ID in it and Jade was very helpful and responsive. Very easy to get the jacket back with everything still in it!

Home and location were both very private and peaceful . The property itself was beyond beautiful ! To go to sleep and wake up hearing all the different birds , frogs, roosters were just peaceful . I even made friends with Snow(the white cat) and paquita (the chicken ) 😅 enjoyed the pool, enjoyed making breakfast and eating outside in the back with the pool and yard view . I can really go on and on . The host was just amazing and responsive !!! Can’t wait to revisit. Mahalo

This is a great place to stay if a person is looking for a remote oasis. house is very cleaned, stocked with essentials, amazing pool to dip into. The views and location are breathtaking. There were a few lights that were burnt out , but not a major concern for us. overall this place exceeded expectations with location and amenities. It is a bit of a drive everywhere but we knew this going into this trip. grocery store is within 15 minutes for items , so it wasn't a concern for us. Wpuld definitely recommend !

It was our 2nd time at Jacklynn’s place and I would absolutely come back again! The first time we stayed at the purple house. All of the houses are super cute and far enough away from each other that you have privacy. Each house is positioned to have a beautiful view of the property. The kitchens are well stocked with everything you need including a blender and a French press! The property itself is peaceful and gorgeous. I absolutely love the hot tubs and pool! I also enjoyed falling asleep to the sounds of the coqui frogs every night. Pahoa is super close and has great restaurants and grocery/market options. I am vegan and Pahoa is the best destination on the big island for vegan food IMO! Watch out for Little Fire Ants (LFA)! They are smaller than you think and easy to miss if you aren’t looking for them. I know Jacklyn treats for them, but they are pervasive in the area so stay alert so you don’t want to have an unpleasant few hours!

As soon as I saw the photos of the rainbow cottage I knew there was something very special about it and I wasn’t wrong. Jacklynn’s place is absolutely breathtaking. From the steam trail to walk, the stargazing at night, and the view of the sunrise in the mornings, the whole compound was just what I was looking for to relax and recenter my mind. We felt very comfortable and at peace there. The place was very clean, the water is potable, and we even had tasty bananas that are grown there! We really liked the laid back town and the nearby restaurants (5 minute car ride). Everything was very smooth, very safe, and very relaxing.

I had a special trip planned with my daughter. We wanted it to be amazing and it was. Terri’s place was a very special destination with the view with the sound of the ocean, the frogs making a musical orchestra at night and the birds singing a symphony during the day, it was perfect. They were very responsive to all communication and resolved any issues extremely quickly. I would highly recommend them and their house. They had more amenities than was listed. It was a fabulous time with my daughter.

This was our favorite stay by far. Ginger was soooo sweet and made everything just that much better! The house was comfy and so relaxing. Felt so at home. Not too fancy to where we didn’t feel comfortable and not dingy or dirty at all. Very clean and a beautiful house. We loved it soooo so much! The drive into the area is stunning. We liked the small narrow road to get to the house. It was beautiful. Ginger went above and beyond to make our stay enjoyable. The sound of the rain on the metal roofs at night was amazing…we also loved the coqui frogs! This was our favorite stay and we just loved ginger!! We highly recommend staying here! You will not be disappointed. The pictures just don’t show the beauty and comfort you will feel. Thank you Ginger!!!
