Family-friendly holiday rentals in Gulf of Papagayo

This was an amazing stay, our host gave us the royal treatment. Five stars all the way around.

We had a great stay at Dirk’s place. The area is very relaxing. Four restaurants nearby and a small mini mart. The house is right next to the entrance to the beach. The beach is spectacular. A few miles long, great surfing, wonderful sunsets, and not crowded compared to the beach at Tarmarindo. We stayed for two weeks. The first week we rented a car to do grocery shopping, etc. The second week we just relaxed using nearby restaurants and the beach. We enjoyed the pool when not at the beach. If you want to go to Tarmarindo it is about a 15 minute walk on the beach to the inlet that separates the two areas, you can then use the locals with their boats to cross. Cost $2 per person. Boats start at 8 and stop at 5. Dirk is a great host. He helped us with renting the car, and was generous with his recommendations. Look forward to returning.

We absolutely loved our stay. Everything within Las Catalinas was a 4 minute walk from Trevelynn’s place. The Airbnb was clean, comfortable, and exactly how we expected. Trevelynn and TropicalHomes were very helpful in planning for our stay and very responsive once we arrived. We travelled with 2 kids 2 and under, and the town was perfect for us! Pool, splash pad, open space for the kids to move around while we waited for dinner! It was a dream! Plus, Trevelynn had 2 pack and plays available so we didn’t have to fly with them!

Daphne's place was perfect four our family of six and we loved our stay! The condo was in great condition and we took advantage of the full kitchen to prepare some breakfasts and lunches so we didn't have to eat our every meal. The clubhouse and pool were conveniently located just next door to the building and our kids loved swimming and we enjoyed the beautiful views over the golf course. It was also so nice having the amenities of Reserva Conchal available - we swam at the beach club, used the kayaks in the ocean, and worked out in the gym - all were convenient and fun. And to top it off, Daphne was a fantastic host. Her communications for check-in and check-out were helpful and clear and she provided us with a great guidebook of local activities and attractions to help make our stay more enjoyable. We really couldn't recommend her or her place higher!

Ilya was super friendly and helpful. He met us at the gate for check-in and showed us around the unit and property. Everything was clean and easy to access. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance and a couple min drive into downtown you can find a ton more. The beach is also within walking distance. It’s a calm beach with black sand. Not a lot around there but we had fun with our kids. This place is peaceful and relaxing and has great views of the ocean. Would recommend!

We had a phenomenal stay here! We had a private balcony, large airbnb and access to all the amenities (tennis, pickle ball, pool, ice plunge). We were a less than 5 minute walk to the beach and local restaurants. There was no noise and the AC was amazing. Will definitely be staying here again

Toucan House was very nice. Great location for beaches, restaurants and tours. The grounds are beautiful and the pool was so appreciated from the heat. The iguanas were fun to hang out with too around the pool. Thank you Gaia for your nice little bungalow.

accommodations very quiet ,great private area. NIce swimming pool PLaya hermossa very quiet beach music done by 830 at night . If your looking for a more active night life playa cocca is a quick bus ride ,or twenty dollar cab ride . Elzbieta is a lovely lady . Was always helpful,pleasant.She made us feel very welcome. There are a few long term tennants at thi s complex, they also made us welcome . It was a wonderful .positive experience to stay at this AIRBNB

Our family of 4 stayed here and it was perfect! Location was great, beach was walking distance, plenty of room and space, we felt safe, loved the pool. So happy we stayed here!

Our stay was very enjoyable. The villa was spacious and the pool was outstanding. It was located very near restaurants in Brasalito and Flamingo as well as multiple beaches. We would definitely return here!

Absolutely stunning location! - private access direct to the beach at Playa Hermosa! Lina was very helpful and communicative in arranging our check-in. The Airbnb is cozy, with thoughtful touches (like a bottle of cold drinking water in the fridge, and wine available for purchase) which made for a very convenient stay. The a/c keeps the casita extremely comfortable, and the lanai is a perfect area to unwind after a day at the beach! Highly recommend!

This place was amazing, even better than in the photos! It was beautiful, clean, and had all of the amenities needed to make it a comfortable stay. It really was a magical place - early mornings were spent watching the birds, dragon flies, and iguanas, and the evenings disappeared by floating in the pool watching the breathtaking sunsets. You can easily walk downtown from the house if you are up for the climb up the hill on the way back but we also found that parking by the beach was easy so we were able to take the beach blanket and umbrella provided at the house. The host provided really helpful instructions so we could easily find the house and local restaurants and was extremely responsive during our stay when we reached out with questions. We stayed with our two children and it was perfect, was one of the best places we have ever stayed, and would highly recommend it!

I stayed here with three friends for a girls’ trip, and we loved the outdoor living experience. The pool was amazing and felt very private. Overall, this was a great place to stay—we all agreed that the house made our trip even better. It was one of our favorite parts! Highly recommend!

We just loved our stay in this cozy hideaway. It is easily one of our favs. So fun! The host was communcative prior to our arrival and ensured our needs were met. Our flight arrived fairly late in the evening but the grounds keeper & doggie were still there to warmly welcome us into the gated community and show us our accommodations. Our cabina was as described with a full kitchen, working AC/fans, etc. The best parts were falling asleep to the sound of crashing waves, waking up to the howler monkeys howling, easy access to the quiet public beach along with using the provided boogie boards. My kids thoroughly enjoyed every single moment especially the falling mangos from the monkeys & many iguana sightings. We felt totally safe the entire time, with the exception of the sightings of the highly venomous, yellow bellied snake on the beach 🤣. There are some really delicious restaurants nearby. Our favs were Ginger & La Casita Del Marisco which are both within walking distance.

Dana place is beautiful. Right on the beach, many activities and tons of delicious restaurants. The studio was super clean and location is very safe. Parking was a breeze. Host was awesome. Thank you for sharing your home with us.

Nice comfortable and clean place, right in the center of Playa Grande. There's everything in the house for a short and long stay. We recommand.

We had a great stay at Casa Tranquilla. Katherine and Willie were very responsive to our needs. The house was as described. We loved sitting in the rocking chairs under the shade by the pool. The wildlife was so fun -- we did see the monkeys pass by a few times. Like us, they seemed happy about the location. We stayed for 12 days, and I could work remotely during the week. The wifi in the house was strong enough for video calls. That said, Costa Rica has intermittent outages, and we experienced some brief loss of power and internet access a couple of times. It wasn't a surprise and didn't last long. If you haven't been to Costa Rica before, be aware that there aren't sidewalks in this area. The walk to town and the beach is along the roadside and on dirt trails. It's not a big deal and everything felt very close and safe, but it was helpful for us to know that going in. If you're looking for the beach, find the trail :) Thank you Katherine and Willie for the excellent stay!

Jorge is a very welcoming and very present host. Inside, the property is basic corresponding to the photos The grounds with direct access to Rio Blanco its swimming pool and gazebo is spectacular The location of the villa is perfect for the park, Leona Falls and grocery store! We recommend!

This place was amazing! Kitchen was well stocked, the grill was great for cooking. The location was ideal. It was so clean! Can’t recommend it enough.

We had a very pleasant stay in this resort area. The condo was clean and roomy enough for our family.

Jose’s bungalows are a little slice of heaven! We were far enough from the city that the nights felt private and quiet but close enough that we were easily able to walk to town or catch a quick Uber. The sweetest surprise was Luna, Jose’s gorgeous dog, who greeted us at the gate every time we returned and loved to hang out with us by the pool. Would absolutely recommend this place to others!

The views and location to the beach are absolutely incredible. This place was perfect for our family. We enjoyed the open air concept. This place made our trip to Costa Rica even better. Highly recommend if you want to get away from the crowds but still be close to everything you need!!

The bamboo garden was a great stay! It was clean, big and comfortable for two. The pool was amazing to have and walking distance to a lot! Would 10/10 recommend and stay there again
