Family-friendly holiday rentals in Gulf of Papagayo

Great amenities. Dirk was extremely responsive and gave great recommendations on things to do and places to eat. The beach is directly across the street. There are several restaurants within walking distance and a market to grab last minute/forgotten items. Don't miss Cafe Mar Azul, the food is fantastic and inexpensive. There's a surf shack next door where you can rent surf boards and book excursions. Very safe area. The house was very roomy, clean, and comfortable. We'd book this location again if we vacation in Costa Rica again in a heartbeat.

We had a fantastic stay here! The host was incredibly responsive and friendly, making the entire experience smooth and enjoyable. The home itself was beautiful, spotless, and had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. I truly appreciated the attention to detail and warm hospitality. I would highly recommend this place to anyone and would love to stay here again in the future!

This place is simply a gem, in a quiet residence with a very beautiful and large pool. The equipment is as described and even exceeds expectations. We traveled with our 4 year old who loved the green spaces, the pool and the many animals to see simply from the terraces. As for Dave and Marciano, they are very responsive and seem to make sure the stay goes smoothly. We highly recommend this place (4x4 car needed to explore the area) to families or people looking to have a good time in Costa Rica. Again thank you for this fabulous experience.

Ilya was super friendly and helpful. He met us at the gate for check-in and showed us around the unit and property. Everything was clean and easy to access. There are multiple restaurants within walking distance and a couple min drive into downtown you can find a ton more. The beach is also within walking distance. It’s a calm beach with black sand. Not a lot around there but we had fun with our kids. This place is peaceful and relaxing and has great views of the ocean. Would recommend!

The bed and breakfast inn was close to action but pleasant enough. Did hear a Friday night party from the Main Street which went with the vibe of the town. Beach was literally 3-5 minutes walk. Lots of restaurants. The hosts were very kind, had breakfast at the inn. Cooked to order eggs, fresh melon smoothie, toasts and coffee yum. The place was very clean, looked better than the pictures. Balcony was a sweet spot and only regret was we didn’t pack our tennis shoes. They had a lovely tennis clinic and pickleball lessons that we watched. Overall, two thumbs up. Loved our stay. Great little bungalow in a gated community with a pool right outside your front porch. Felt very safe. It is a little bit of a walk to get to the beach/restaurants, there is the best bakery and Italian restaurant right around the corner though! There are no sidewalks to get to downtown Potrero so I would recommend finding an uber or having a car/golf cart. The security guards at the gate are very friendly and helpful. Lots of lizards, iguanas, squirrels, and cats that roam through the neighborhood, quite entertaining!

Beautiful location, the house was gorgeous, and sitting on the patio we had seen so much wildlife. One morning we even had monkeys in the trees just in front of us as we sipped our coffee! The house was so clean and Lisa was so great to chat with and met us at an easy location.

Wonderful stay, highly recommend!

We had a great time at Jeannyna's place. Highly recommend! We got there before check-in time, but were able to drop our bags and change our clothes. Jeannyna then drove us around town and gave us many tips and recommendations. We would have wasted so much time if not for all her suggestions. We were lucky to find a golf cart to rent, which was key if you don't have a car. We did a boat tour with "Frank the Tank", caught some fish and cooked it up at the house. We spent most of our time relaxing at the pool and enjoying the view from this beautiful property!

Me and my 3 adult children in there 20’s stayed here and it was everything that the pictures show and better ! Outdoor living at its finest and we can’t wait to come back and stay here again! Air conditioning in each bedroom that gets very cold ! LOVED the pool ! Very clean for being outdoor living and I am very particular , but your in Costa Rica don’t go nit picking every nook and cranny you rented an Airbnb with outside living and it’s VERY CLEAN ! Upon arrival was left a bottle of wine , coffee and a pineapple:) Our host was very responsive and checked in regularly to make sure we didn’t need anything or if we needed any suggestions . You’re far enough away from town that we did not hear anything contrary to what some of the previous reviews said . This is a MUST STAY ! We loved it and were so sad to leave . We were here for 5 days and I do suggest renting a golf cart for your stay , soooo much fun and so much easier to get around it really made the trip ! Great Costa Rica Vibe

Great value right on the beach. The property is beautiful with several other cabins for rent as well so would be great for a larger group or extended family trip. The cabin is rustic as described but was well stocked and air conditions in the bedrooms worked well. Easy walk to alot of restuarants.

Ideal location, right in the heart of everything in Tamarindo, you call it restaurants, beach, supermarket, coffee shops, gym… The apartment if extremely well kept, surroundings are beautiful. Alexander and Gabriela are very friendly and helpful. Very fast internet for digital nomads. I recommend it to the Airbnb community 100 %

Excellent accommodation, everything the place had, very clean and organized

Very comfortable place, close to very nice places such as Tamarindo, Brasilito, Avellanas. I would definitely go this place again. The house is very comfortable, private pool, many other amenities.

Great location. Quiet little community within walking distance to anything you need, including the beach. Condo was stocked with all of your beach necessities- towels, chairs, boogie board. The welcome book had all of the information we needed + more. Easy/clear check in directions and early check in/late out was offered, which is always appreciated! Bottled water in the fridge upon arrival which we were so thankful for since we arrived late at night after everything was closed! We were also greeted with a congratulatory champaign bottle as we were on our honeyhoneymoon. Very thoughtful! We would absolutely return if we find ourselves in the area again.

Great house for a large group or family vacation

The house was as advertised. The pool was spotless, and the landscaping was beautiful. Despite the suggestion to turn off the AC when leaving the house, which left us concerned about being comfortable while sleeping, the AC worked great, and we slept fantastically. Although we did not cook a lot, we never failed to find the utensils and pans etc. that we needed. All in all, it was a well-appointed house with towels, beach chairs everything we needed. And the wildlife showed up right on cue, we saw howler monkies, equanas, geckos, butterflies, and birds (even saw a parrott). Unfortunately we did not see the ten foot iguana that Willy bragged about, but several in the group were fine with that ;). Finally, Willy was a fantastic concierge/helper. Gave us great advice and is a pleasure to talk too. Only downside was the restaurant food in town was very pricy. Really had to follow Willies advice and go to the local mom and pop haunts for better food and better pricing.

Beautiful home with wonderful character. Feels like you are staying in a fabulous home rather than a sterile Air BNB. Location is convenient for all that Tamarindo has to offer. We alternated between at home days and excursions and loved both. Christmas Day with our kids and their SOs around the pool with a wonderful kitchen will be a treasured memory for life.

Jorge’s Villa Los Encinos is a great place to stay, offering a peaceful location near Parque Nacional Rincón de la Vieja and Liberia, away from crowds. It’s a great alternative to expensive mountain hotels, with a relaxing atmosphere surrounded by nature. Jorge, the host, is very hospitable and quick to address any issues, such as fixing a broken shower hose or light bulb. The villa has some minor shortcomings, such as missing blackout curtains and a lack of a dedicated workroom, but for the price, it’s a great value. The pool area is shared, not private as listed, and there may be construction noise nearby, though Jorge handled it promptly. Noise from animals, like barking dogs and roosters, is typical in Costa Rica. The kitchen lacks a table and chairs, but this can be worked around. Some cleanliness issues and outdated photos in the listing should be noted. Overall, the villa offers a wonderful, tranquil experience with a welcoming host.

The house is stuning, more spacious than on the photos. The pool is amazing. Plenty of towels, which is really appreciated. Would stay again.

I wish we would have got there earlier to spend more time there. It was still lovely and we would definitely stay again.

The bungalow was in such a great spot. Just a short walk to town! Felt like I was in the jungle and a very Costa Rican feel! Jose was very friendly and helpful! His dog and pig were a highlight to our stay!!
