Santa Isabel’s Mountain Lodge

CarolynRating, 5 stars5 months ago
Beautiful private modern mountain home located on top of a huge coffee farm. My family traveled all of Nicaragua with this home being our absolute favorite rental property in the country. The home is located up a remote mountain road from San Ramon where 4x4 is highly recommended. Make sure you pickup all you need for your stay before arriving at the home b/c once you arrive you’ll never want to leave this peaceful magical place. When you arrive at the home you’ll be greeted by the amazing staff that is so helpful and friendly and makes you feel right at home. The room accommodates are perfect for family/friends to have a clean, comfortable, and relaxing stay. The main home has everything you need for cooking family meals, to playing games, or just finding a comfortable spot to read or nap. Our favorites were the amazing views, daily horseback rides, the soccer field games, bird watching, the sound system, and all the staff especially Mercedes! Our stay was an absolute dream adventure!

Tree house, Finca el Escondido.

SamantaRating, 5 stars1 month ago
What an amazing, beautiful, and peaceful place! Wilma and her husband are such wonderful hosts—I don’t even have the words to fully describe their incredible hospitality and the good vibes they bring. The finca feels like one big family. The treehouse is exceptionally well-built, cozy, and comfortable, with nature views all arround. The entire finca is just as stunning, surrounded by a nature reserve with gorgeous landscapes everywhere you look. This is the perfect place to disconnect from daily life and reconnect with nature and your inner self. Thank you so much, Wilma! Hasta la próxima visita!

Sta Maria de Ostuma CASA LEAL

IvetteRating, 5 stars4 months ago
It was a wonderful experience, Claudia house was beyond beautiful, the landscape and the surrounding were breathtaking. The house has a great open layout and the kitchen is super well equipped . This house was the ultimate tranquility place for those looking for peace and quiet. Some downsides were the beds were not very comfortable (too hard) and there was no TV anywhere in the house. We were hoping to do a movie night with our small children. Maycol the house keeper was very attentive and gave us a great introduction to the history of the property. Make sure you bring your snacks and food to cook as there is no supermarket near. Overall great stay. Thanks Claudia for opening your home to us

House of the View

MiraRating, 5 stars20 months ago
Margarita and her mother are very nice hosts. The communication was consistently good. We always received an immediate response. The view from the balcony is beautiful and the apartment is comfortable and has everything you need. We found the apartment to be very quiet for a city apartment, the street in front of the house has little traffic and nearly none at night. We would come back anytime and enjoyed our stay.

Camping on working coffee farm

CarmenRating, 5 stars22 months ago
Great experience. Alvaro was always reachable and gave us all the information in advance. Fantastic view of the whole Matagalpa. Benches, a table and 20 L of water will be made available. The plantation is about 3 km from the main road and the path is only suitable for terrain wagons. We only got to half by taxi and then had to walk the rest. The view is definitely worth the hike!

Hermosa Quinta

CourtneyRating, 5 stars1 week ago
Parisa’s home was absolutely beautiful and peaceful! My husband, baby and I enjoyed every day of our stay. We felt right at home and enjoyed making meals and sitting out on the screened patio watching the birds fly and sing while looking at the mountains. Parisa’s place is exactly how described. There is AC, beautiful amenities, hot water, comfy bedding and furniture and an amazing view that you would never want to leave. The Airbnb has beautiful grounds to walk on as well if you’re looking to get some steps in or get outside. There is a gorgeous waterfall in Santa Emilia, 20 mins from the Airbnb and the downtown of Matagalpa is just a 17 min drive from the Airbnb. There isn’t WiFi in the Airbnb which is mentioned, though there are full bars of service on the phone and you can bring a hotspot if need be, anyways who wants to be on their phone when you have views like you do from Parisa’s Airbnb! We will definitely be back in the future! Thanks for such a tranquil stay!

Luxury Condo In Matagalpa

MattieRating, 5 stars11 months ago
This house is perfect for a long term stay! There is everything you could think of in the house. Very well stocked kitchen, cleaning supplies, linens, etc. The street is pretty busy and there is a club near the house so it can be loud at times but you get used to it. Overall, an amazing house with incredible views from the rooftop!

Casa Molinares 2

NathanRating, 5 stars59 months ago
I was going to spend an extended period in Matagalpa so I spent a week visiting all the places listed on AirBnB in person. Norvin's place is by far the best. The room is separated from the main living area and there is an extra sink, stove, and refrigerator to use so it's basically a whole apartment. It does face the street though and can be quite noisy as I don't believe people there believe in using mufflers. I made use of a white-noise machine. The location is in the middle of town and the entirety of Matagalpa can be traversed by foot in about 20 minutes. There are plenty of places to eat close by. A plate of food can be had for under 3 dollars at most of them. Breakfast and answers to questions are free. Norvin speaks some English which makes him one of probably 3 people in the whole town that does. There's hot water. The importance of this can't be overstated. Hot water is rare enough in Central America and that's normally no big deal but the water in the highlands areas is substantially colder than it is in, say, Managua. I stayed at another, comparably priced, AirBnB place my first week while I shopped for a long-term location. That place not only didn't have hot water but the water broke entirely and I was instructed on how to bathe out of a trashcan full of water with a little bucket. I was happy when Norvin told me I could move in early. Norvin is a professional baker. So, if you enjoy amazing baked goods and deserts, expect to get fatter during your stay. The balcony is perfect for a couple of people to hang out on and have a beer and a cigar from Esteli while watching the people do their thing. In summary, you'll get hot water, wifi, breakfast, a great location, fantastic hosts, an apartment-type living situation, laundry service, and a great location. Trust that I already did all the shopping around for you and book this place. Please tell everyone Nathan says 'hi' and give Valente a hug for me. I'm serious, please do that for me and enjoy your time in Matagalpa. It's a fun little town.

Downtown hotel room with A/C

RobRating, 5 stars1 month ago
Easy check-in, parked my land cruiser out front both nights - no probs. Simple but functional room, sparkling clean. There was coffee in the reception area early after my morning jog through the neighborhood (steep hills, great if you're a runner in training!). I enjoyed breakfast on the top floor terrace - beautiful views of the city and mountains opposite, and fresh breezy air. Muy tranquillo saturday and sunday mornings. Close to the Dario park which was festive for the holidays, and a nice restaurant a block away (Casa Blanca). A very well maintained hotel with a quiet vibe, and great friendly service. A great value, too.

House with lots of style and comfort.

BenjaminRating, 5 stars1 month ago
What a lucky hit! A wonderful Airbnb. It had everything we needed. We actively used the fireplace. We were provided with firewood. The pool was a nice cool down when the sun warmed up the beautiful place. The place is perfect for resting. But even for the little wanderlust, there are also some great mountains with trails that guarantee you wonderful views. We didn't have a car, but San Ramon village is within walking distance and we could buy anything we needed. Danilo and his family and workers are super friendly. They are helpful and gifted us with many things and drove us on our departure to Matagalpa and helped us by bus. 100% recommendation

Casa Lupita. ( Room 2 of 3)

HelenRating, 5 stars14 months ago
We loved our stay at Carol's. The room was nice--very clean with a private bath and fluffy towels. We enjoyed the well behaved dogs and the caged birds and the beautifully arranged plants in the patio. Carol and her niece Carolina were kind and attentive. The neighborhood is residential, but there are small businesses on every street and several good restaurants in easy walking distance.

I had an amazing experience! I wanted a peaceful spot close to the heart of everything, and I couldn't have made a better choice. The house is beautiful, and it has a warm, welcoming atmosphere for everyone. The private parking was the cherry on top for me—it really sealed the deal!

I agree with the other reviewers that Yelba offers a joyous and illuminating experience. The daily breakfast connected me to her home and community. Yelba arranged for 2 excursions that were outstanding. I highly recommend her property. Yelba exemplifies the warmth, resilience, and considerable talents of the Nicaraguan people.
