Holiday rentals with a kayak in Charlestown

Excellent MLK weekend getaway for our multinational family. Our older parents were happy and comfortable. My sister and girls toured colleges. We all enjoyed MOB, beaches and The Glass Station classes.

This was the perfect place for three friends who write and workshop together online to gather in person. The main room of the house is filled with light and what I didn't realize from the listing is the beautiful view from the living/dining room down to the river. The kitchen is well supplied and every room was very clean and uncluttered. The three bedrooms on the first floor are all very nice, with good beds and pillows (one is slightly larger with a king-sized bed), so we were able to decide on our rooms painlessly and none of us had to settle for an inferior room. The large dining table was perfect for spreading out our work as well as for dining, and one of us enjoyed having the furnished basement as her private work space. When we had a problem with hearing a beeping noise, which we initially thought might be a smoke detector battery that needed replacing, Bob was very responsive and helpful in figuring out the cause of the beeping from a motion detector. We plan to come again.

I stayed at The Nest for some girls bonding over a 4-day weekend with my daughter and my sister. The place was perfect for us! The beds are like sleeping on a cloud, the neighborhood was so quiet and peaceful, and my 11-year old thought the loft was the coolest. The hosts provided clear communication from the description in the property listing through checkout instructions and the house had everything we needed to feel "at home" while away. Ann’s place is a must stay! We spent a relaxing weekend in this gorgeous home, overlooking an idyllic Mystic River. So conveniently located to more restaurants and shops than you could ever visit, and yet a world away set among the trees. This house is perfect for our family of three and we could have easily accommodated 2 more adults! The space is tranquil and spacious, and Ann provided some goodies (even for our son!) upon our arrival. The house is stocked with anything you could possibly need or want, inclusive of outdoor amenities. My husband and I are already looking to rebook…truly cannot recommend this stay enough!

Ashley reached out well in advance with house info. She answered a question I had immediately. The house overlooks the water and made a morning cup of coffee more enjoyable with the view. Fortunately we had great weather, but if we needed to stay inside the house all day they have plenty of dvds available and various games. We would certainly stay in this beautiful home again!

Noah was amazingly helpful for a long weekend we took with our two kids. He had a full size folding crib which made sleeping our 3 year old, easy. He keeps a beautiful, well-stocked home, which made it so convenient to cook some meals at home. The location is amazing, only a short drive to town and a priceless view of Fort Pond only steps away. Would love to stay here again.

Fantastic hosts. The house was immaculate. Great spot! Comfortable and quiet. Great communication. Made sure we were comfortable and made themselves available. Great kitchen area!

This will be the 4th time I have stayed at Theresa's beautiful home. We always have a great time. The home is clean, beautifully decorated and has everything one needs to enjoy themselves on vacation.I highly recommend it.

It was a very wonderful place to stay; a very nice cozy place for a few people to enjoy. Kayaking out back was great for anyone who wanted a nice chill day.

The cottage was a wonderful place to stay. We had to come in from out of town for an unfortunate family event, and found the cottage as our place to stay. We really enjoyed that it was right on the water. Being the middle of winter, the lake was frozen and it was neat to see. We would love to come back to see how it looks in the summer. The house was cozy and we felt right at home. Really enjoyed the hot tub, too!

Absolutely loved the Schoolhouse. Super clean, and adorable. Perfect size for 2 adults and a French Bulldog. So close to everything in town. So much to do downtown, and then a short drive to museums and aquariums. Would definitely book this again, or even the Captains House which is connected to the School House.

This is the absolute perfect home for a get away. Everything you need and more is provided. The home is gorgeous, well decorated, and extremely clean. It is even better than the pictures. It feels like a real home, with luxury and artistic touches, not a generically decorated place. Location is perfect, close to it all and still very private. Christopher is an excellent host, responsive, helpful, and gives you your privacy. I can't recommend staying here enough.

Amazing staff and excellent food. Luxurious delivery right to our door for breakfast. Cute patio to hang out in the back yard. Access to Lantern Hill trail was a nice addition to our morning!

We loved our stay at the cabin! It was clean, the kitchen was well stocked for cooking, and the location was beautiful. We stayed for a few days and celebrated our early family Christmas here. It ended up snowing, which made the surrounding Connecticut forest even more beautiful. We found the cabin cozy and peaceful, with the town just 10 minutes away for anything we’d need. I definitely plan to keep this listing in mind for next time I’m visiting family in Connecticut.

Lachonta was a great host. We were in town for my mother in laws memorial service. The house was very comfortable, had all that we needed and the lake view was wonderful! Would definite recommend!!

I had a wonderful stay at the lake cabin. It was a cold and snowy few days but I was nice and cozy inside. Everything was as described and the hosts were available and very helpful. The kitchen was very well equipped with nice appliances and I was able to prepare some simple meals with ease. The bed I used was super comfortable. Bed and bath linens were high quality. Everything was clean and neat. Highly recommend!

Clean and cozy cabin. Close to Mystic without being right in the thick of it. We enjoyed a night by the fire with a friendly local fisherman. It worked nicely for our short trip to the area.

Great spot. We weren’t there to take advantage of the little marina and kayaks— though that would have been cool! Had a weekend event in New London and this was very easy, super straightforward and quiet. Thank you, Paul!

I didnt want to leave this little cabin in the woods. It felt rustic but had all the modern amenities you would expect in a home. From the rocking chairs on the porch to the comfy beds, there is nothing I could complain about, even if I tried. Marilyn gave excellent suggestions of places to eat and local current events. We left with fall apples, bellies full of clam chowder, and gigantic smiles!!! We have already started planning our return!

A Perfect Lakeside Couple Retreat – 5 Stars! Our stay at Lakeside Landing was nothing short of spectacular! From the moment we arrived, we were captivated by the breathtaking lake views, the serene atmosphere, and the beautifully designed space. This getaway truly offers the perfect blend of relaxation & closely located by foxwoods and Mohegan Sun and many great restaurants also old mystic and Rhode Island are right up the road as well Great location and very private also the hot tub is a nice touch as well.

Great find! Hidden cottage away from the road, with lots of space to sit indoors and outdoors. Master bedroom spacious but missing blinds, make sure to bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in! Enjoyed our stay!

we needed a local place to stay while our house was being worked on and Joe's lakeside cabin felt just like home. Host was super responsive and friendly. 20 minutes to Sturbridge village.

My daughter, husband and I stayed at the Lake House for 3 nights and had a wonderful time. The house is as described so I knew in advance that there was only one bathroom and that it was downstairs (the master bedroom is upstairs). The place is rustic but has everything you need, in good working order. You can't beat the location...it's beautiful, and only about a 15 min. drive to UConn. We were there in the winter so we didn't get to take advantage of the paddle boards and kayaks but the lake is beautiful, even when frozen. Joe is a superb host - very friendly and super responsive. I would definitely stay there again.

My stay at Angela's place was very peaceful and enjoyable. The sauna by the pond was great, and the water is right by if you want to cool down real quick. The area was great for hiking as there were several trails to access by foot right from the doorstep. My visit was very relaxing, and Angela always replied to any of my questions in a very timely fashion.
