Holiday rentals with a fire pit in Borough of Swale

If you’re reading this review and considering making a reservation, stop scrolling, don’t bother looking at other properties and just book Painters Forstal. The house has been there for 478 years at time of writing this and on our trip here we’ve created more life long family memories that add to this incredible historic and amazing home. Beautiful accommodation in lovely grounds with everything you need to host a group celebration. The decor is fabulous!

Really lovely stay. Sarah was communicative and helpful throughout (and even left us a couple of Easter Eggs for the kids, thank you!). The place was very comfy, nice and clean, and had loads of room for us to spread out. Lots of fun games and books for the kids. Well equipped kitchen. I also recommend the local Indian, Saheb’s! Would definitely come back here if the chance arises!

Sarah was an Amazing host and I couldn't have asked for a better host or a more wonderful house. Sarah's home was stunning and was so lovely to be near a wonderful big park.

We had a fabulous stay at Barefoot. The house was terrific - great set up inside, extremely clean and comfortable and with all we needed (and more) for a perfect few days at the beach. The location is amazing - literally right on the beach, nestled amongst beautiful dunes which the kids adored. And being able to step right onto the sand was glorious. Mark was extremely helpful with all we needed and also local recommendations - communication always v quick and easy. Thoroughly recommend staying at Barefoot! We are sure to be back!

We came to visit with our toddler, large dog and grandparents this place was incredible, a place all stakeholders had the best time. it really is no joke about being 5 minutes from the beach. the area was lovely and quiet with a few friendly locals. we strolled the large empty beaches and had lovely breakfasts lunches and dinners all nearby. we played I'm the sand during the afternoons and had a lovely BBQ and toasted smores over the fire. the house itself is warm and cosy but decorated well enough it didn't feel cluttered or messy. everything we could need for 5 adults and a child and shops only 6 min drive away for anything. my dog was delighted with the area and was comfortable enough that once his blankets and beds were down he was fine sleeping on his own downstairs. we ended up getting absolutely gorgeous weather having said that I imagine coming down when it's chilly or a little rainy would be equally as enjoyable. I will definitely be booking again.

Absolutely blown away by the church. Exactly as seen in photos . Couldn’t have asked for more for a special occasion. 5 of us stayed this weekend for my husband’s 60th birthday . David was very accommodating and had hung a massive happy birthday sign outside for our arrival which I had sent in advance . Had two lovely meals in nearby pubs. Particularly enjoyed the fox and hound. We thoroughly recommend to anyone looking for a unique getaway . Would definitely come again . Katie and family

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house worked really well for our group of 8. It offered plenty of space and had lots to keep all ages entertained. The pool table was a big hit and being able to walk out of the back garden straight on to the beach was great. The instructions for access were easy to follow and the host responded to a couple of questions we asked during our stay.

The apartment has character, exactly as shown in the photos. The neighbourhood is residential, with houses next to each other. As the houses do not have garages, the street tends to be filled with cars, which can make parking a bit challenging. The cafés and restaurants nearby are excellent. I recommend following Liza's tips.

We needed somewhere to stay while finding a place to live in London. The flat was excellent and well equipped for our needs. Great place to stay.

Amazing location, really in the heart of Dungerness, with a great view. The cabin was very clean, beautifully laid out and had everything we needed for the weekend. Would definitely stay again!

Stayed in this lovely loft for a few days on a trip to Southend. Felt very homely and had everything we could have needed. Great that the tv was all set up with the apps and easy to watch all the streaming services, and games and books available if we fancied a night in. Cupboard was stocked with essentials for cooking and the coffee and biscuits were a nice touch. Would definitely recommend and would stay again.

We loved the house, felt right at home from day 1. Lovely decor, spotless and with extra little amenities. Our little one also loved it especially the garden. Craig and Imogen kindly extended check in and check out and were very responsive. Would definitely recommend for families

It was such a treat to stay in Amelia’s fabulous home and really made our trip to Margate. The flat was perfect for what we needed and finished beautifully. It’s even better than the photos and felt so peaceful whilst being so close to everything. Amelia was brilliant- communicative and flexible, we’d stay here again in a heartbeat.

I’ve been wanting to stay somewhere like this, a much-needed getaway to relax in nature, with a big window and a scenic view, and I found the perfect spot. Stayed for two nights and honestly didn’t want to return back to reality. It did get a bit cold at night, but starting my own fire in the fireplace was such a fun experience, and it didn’t take long to warm up the cabin. The host was super helpful and stayed in contact with quick replies. I took my pet rabbit, and she enjoyed herself too! Definitely looking forward to checking out the other cabins in different locations. Highly recommend!

I had a wonderful stay at this lovely shepherd’s hut! The hut itself was modern, spotlessly clean, and had all the amenities we needed for a comfortable getaway. The host went the extra mile by leaving us a welcome bottle of champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. Throughout our stay, they were incredibly kind, responsive, and accommodating, making sure we had everything we needed. The peaceful countryside setting was perfect for a relaxing weekend away. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a cosy retreat. I’ll definitely be back!

Our stay was short and sweet, but how absolutely lovely it was! Thank you Alyson for being so attentive to us and responding so quickly. The forest den was easy to find thanks to Alyson’s instructions and it spotless when we arrived. Being greeted by the doggies was the highlight of my day! We stayed one night and the space was perfect for us. The local woodland was perfect for a walk to celebrate the start of spring. The surrounding area was so quiet and peaceful, it was exactly what we needed and expected. I recommend it to anyone who needs to take a break and recharge!

I had a lovely two-day stay at this peaceful farm retreat. The setting was incredibly quiet and serene—just what I needed to unwind and disconnect. The accommodation was clean, cozy, and well-equipped with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Waking up to the sounds of nature and enjoying a morning coffee with views of the highland cows grazing in the field was a real highlight. The hosts were friendly and welcoming, offering helpful local tips without being intrusive. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a restful break in a beautiful rural setting!

We loved our stay at Pancake Lodge, beautiful views, immaculate lodge, hot tub was a very good quality one, outdoor dining area was unique and creatively made, all amenities needed and clear communication throughout. Kari also was kind enough to add a birthday banner for us before arrival and helped plan for a later check in putting on some lights warmth etc. Very thoughtful extra touches were appreciated. Would highly recommend and will return.
