james' place castle cottage

BrittanyRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
We had such a lovely time at James’ Place. We booked for my parents birthday and Angela and James’ went the extra mile with a card, chilled bottle of Prosecco on arrival and homemade Welsh cakes. On the lead up to the booking, James/Angela provided us with lots of recommendations for things to do/places to eat. Nothing was too much trouble. The house and garden/patio area was superb and spacious. We will definitely be booking again. Thank you so much James and Angela.

Hawthorn Lodge with Jacuzzi, sauna and play area

KarenRating, 5 stars3 months ago
A great base for our half term break. Very peaceful and good location for exploring by car. The hosts were responsive and on hand if needed. Lovely little touches as we stayed over Halloween, we had a Halloween shower curtain and the chicken pen was decorated with Halloween bits which the kids really enjoyed. Seeds were provided so we could feed the chickens and geese in the field right by the house. Plenty of wood was provided to keep the fire going and warm the house.

The Hayloft @ Cantref

ConnorRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
I've stayed in several places around the area over the years, This was a bit of a gem however. The site itself has plenty of amenities but is also very conveniently located. it's even well enough known in the community that restaurants can easily deliver. After a birthday spent walking the hills, the hot tub was the perfect way to relax and the house itself was wonderfully warm and well furnished. I would absolutely visit again and recommend to others.

Pontysgob Cottage

DevinRating, 5 stars3 weeks ago
My girlfriend and I recently had the absolute pleasure of staying at Hersey’s cottage, and we couldn’t have been more delighted with our experience. From the moment we arrived, we felt right at home in this spacious and well-equipped retreat. The cottage had everything we needed for a comfortable and cozy stay. The wood-burning fire added such a warm and inviting atmosphere, and having the wood provided was a thoughtful touch. The jacuzzi was the perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring, and the BBQ, complete with provided coal, made for some fantastic outdoor meals. One of the highlights of our stay was the beautiful natural surroundings. Our hosts were incredibly kind and went the extra mile to provide us with hiking routes, allowing us to fully explore the stunning landscape. Evenings by the river, sitting around a crackling fire, were pure magic—one of those rare moments in life that you never want to end. We genuine

Bullrush Barn: Canal Location, Brecon Beacons

RoxanneRating, 5 stars4 months ago
We spent a lovely long weekend here. The space is a great, comfortable size for 4 adults and a baby and would have comfortably fit another 2 children or an adult. The property was lovely and clean. Parking was convenient and there was also the option for electric charging, although we didn't use this. My only negative comment is the double mattresses are quite squeaky, although I probably wouldn't have noticed if I wasn't getting up in the night with the baby. Despite this they are comfortably firm. The location is peaceful and quiet, in beautiful surroundings, and right next to the canal for a lovely flat walk (suitable for a pram). We were attending a wedding at Peterstone Court and it was a very convenient 5/10 minite drive or 50 minute walk. Rachel was very quick at responding to queries. I would highly recommend a stay here.

Bridge End Cottage - with Parking

SarahRating, 5 starstoday
Lovely little cottage. Beautiful views from windows (Llangattock mountain and escarpment, river Usk). Cosy cottage with log burner (logs there when we arrived), which was perfect to warm the spirits after a day out in the mountains. Welcome goodies gratefully received and enjoyed. The traffic was noticeable at busy times but not a nuisance. Very useful having parking opposite. Although next door to a pub, we didn’t hear any noise from there at all. Crickhowell is a lovely little town, with quite a few independent shops. Highly recommend both butchers, friendly Grenfell’s grocery store, no waste store, Book-Life bookshop and cafe and the food at The Bear is outstanding! Thanks Karen. Lovely stay.

We spent a wonderful few days exploring the Brecon Beacons and really enjoyed staying in this cosy, comfortable retreat. A sauna and a lovely woodburner to relax with after a hard days walking. Perfectly dog friendly and a lovely private outside space to sit and relax in. Angharad and Owen are superb hosts who responded to our questions immediately and are super friendly and helpful. Thoroughly recommend and will definitely be returning.

Lilac Cottage, near Abergavenny, Brecon Beacons

SamirRating, 5 stars1 month ago
I booked Lilac Cottage as a base for working at Nevill Hall hospital in Abergavenny. I was mostly alone for 2 weeks (a few days with my family in the middle) and the cottage was the perfect size for me. Lovely, comfortable living room, functional and bright kitchen, comfy bed upstairs and nice big bath in bathroom as well. Cottage was always warm and the wifi was reliable and fast for my work in the evenings. Family time was great, just a few mins away from Abergavenny, Crickhowell, etc. Lots of nature to explore! I brought my bike down and took advantage of Lilac Cottage's bike shed as well! For nights in, big, modern TV with connected apps for movie night on the comfy couch. Can adjust TV angle to point anywhere in the room. Had a fantastic takeaway night at the dining room table with my wife and 3YO son. So much fun. Above all, Carol was a fantastic hostess. Always on the end of the phone and v communicative at all hours. Very friendly and warm made the stay so hassle-free!

Dragons Cottage

FayRating, 5 stars7 months ago
We are returning guests. This is a lovely, cosy little cottage, perfectly positioned for great walking in several stunning areas, some straight from the front door. Alison is a fabulous host, always responding to any questions quickly. There is everything we need - plenty of clean bed linen, towels etc., and a nice comfy bed too. This year, the weather was good enough for us to use the barbecue too!

Llanhilleth Miners Cottage with valley view

DebbieRating, 5 stars1 month ago
We had a lovely stay at the cottage over Christmas. The home is exactly as described and identical to the photos shown. Loved how responsive Meryl was to my messages and that she added some little Christmas touches for our stay. We found some lovely walks a short drive away and we loved exploring the area. The double bed in the main bedroom was super comfy and the home had all items we needed to ensure we had a lovely stress free break. Thanks so much Meryl. We will definitely be back.

Authentic 18c Cottage in the Brecon Beacons

CharlesRating, 5 stars6 months ago
5 star location. We where looking for a place to escape the tourist session (we live in Cornwall) & be by the mountains. We look for middle of nowhere and peacefulness when looking for holidays & this is perfect for both. This being said there is the town of brecon just a short drive so you have everything you might need there. Perfect place to go walking from as you can get to smaller carparks just round the corner and walk up the North face of both Cribyn and Pen Y Fan which is a much nicer and quieter walk than the main carparks. The house is what you would expect from the description and photos. we all felt at home straight away. the girls loved staying here & were very sad to leave. It is a old farmhouse & not a 5 star hotel so keep that in mind when booking. Things that are not in the description- there is a stairgate fitted at the top of the landing which was great as we had a 3 year old staying. No light pollution in the evenings & being able to reverse in tight lanes is helpfu

Great location with great views. Stayed for one night and used it as a base for doing things both days. The place was modern yet in the Welsh countryside. Location was easy to find with the What3Words listed. Would recommend!
