Elena and her husband are such a kind and attentive couple. Even with the hiccups we did have, they were very quick to respond and resolve the issues. It is so peaceful to wake up to the birds and bask in the sounds of the night under the stars. The dome was perfect to sit and play card games with our babies and the hot tub was just enough to satisfy our kiddos. My husband and I kept the sliding door to our bedroom cracked so we could be lulled to sleep by the beautiful sounds of nature you’ll experience here. The spring peepers sing a constant melody throughout the night and the birds are the perfect alarm to start your day. The only thing we wish we could’ve done is enjoy a fire under the stars and kayak. The weather just didn’t allow for it during our short stay. On Sunday we were delighted with fresh pastries from the local bakery from Elena and her husband. They really take servanthood to the next level which was so needed while we were there. We would definitely return.

My wife and I loved the place. The wooded surroundings in the backyard with the stream running through or breathtaking. We would see on average anywhere from 15 to 20 deer every day. The house was even better than what the picture show. I never had to worry about being able to reach the owner. She was always accommodating and even offered us the opportunity to stay longer knowing that we were doing a longer-term, but we had already made arrangements to go somewhere else and couldn’t get out of it or we would’ve taken it.

This is our third year staying here while visiting our daughter in Portage. This condo is so well equipped and well kept. Teresa is the most responsive host we’ve ever had. She responds quickly and I never would worry about it if there was some issue cause I know I would be able to communicate with her easily! See you next year!

The River House is a real treat. We loved our stay there and Rhiannon was a very responsive and friendly host. We had everything we needed and being right on the Kankakee River was a bonus. The decor in the house is really cute and stylish. The beds were comfy and the shower was nice and hot with great water pressure. We felt right at home.

This small quaint home packs a HUGE punch when it comes to amenities and that home away from home feel. We couldn't have asked for more in an airbnb during our stay in the Chicago area. From the kuerig, to the decor, to the hot tub to the amazing bathroom and shower, this Airbnb had everything we needed and everything we didn't even know we wanted. I would HIGHLY recommend this airbnb along with the amazing and attentive hosts to anyone traveling through the area.

We stayed for one night as we were two couples meat a central location. It’s on a quiet culdesac (?) but there were other people as neighbors. So not a deserted area. Small town safe feeling. Lovely little town. Ten minutes from Kankakee. Had a number of non chain restaurants. A train track was nearby but not intrusive with noise. Beds were comfortable. Kitchen and family room and dining area worked well for cooking supper there.

For our trip this home was perfect. It was near the friends we were visiting, short drive to Lake Michigan, great restaurants in the area, and we loved having a kitchen so we could grab some groceries and save some money on meals. The home is older but so is ours so we felt right at home. Everything was clean as well. We hope to stay here again.

The house was cozy and ideal for our family of five, offering a charming and authentic countryside experience. As this is a true country home, visitors should expect to encounter some critters and enjoy the rustic charm of older amenities. For us, this only added to the experience, making it even more unique and memorable. We loved exploring the property, where we saw chickens, Bengal cats, and horses. My daughter especially enjoyed the swing, spending every morning and evening out there—it quickly became her favorite spot! This peaceful retreat was exactly what we needed to escape the chaos of city life. Diana, we are so grateful for your hospitality and this amazing experience. We can’t wait to return soon!

Great spot for large groups. We had a group of 12 stay over one night. The property was beautiful and had a lot of spots to wander around, though we didn’t have much time to explore. The bedrooms were nice and comfortably fit us all. The gathering sports in the house were great, too, though we didn’t get to use them much. Our only complaint was the excess of “lady bugs” and stink bugs in the house when we got there, but I understand that is pretty typical for houses this time of year in the area. Overall, we were happy with our experience and would recommend to others.

Nice private, quiet place to stay. Stayed longer term due to construction job in the area. Diana was very accommodating and cleaned every week. Did linens, removed trash, provided snacks, water, coffee, etc. Very friendly and flexible. This place works well for me as a construction worker.
