Stylish Retro Hotel Room above Pub

A dream came true when I finally visited the delightful village of Pilton & Glastonbury area, staying at “The Crown” for a few nights. I mean, a beautifully appointed room directly above the pub for a long weekend, with 'open mike' and friendly staff & locals, who embrace talking to a complete stranger, what more do you want! The room itself was hosted by Owain, who runs the pub & is cleverly situated so that the noise from the bar doesn’t intrude. I was treated to a very comfortable double bed in a large, tastily furnished space, that included a fridge & a decent sized shower room, with much attention spent on detail & décor throughout. It has excellent beers & ciders on tap & great-tasting food (including meat-free options) on offer during lunchtimes & in the evenings. There’s a big pub garden with great kids' play area & car-park at the rear. All in all, well worth a special visit & definitely plan a stay, if you can, because you're sure to find a beautiful jewel in “The Crown”!

Lovely stay at this beautiful hotel. Very homely feel and warm environment, polite and friendly staff. The surrounding area was stunning and peaceful, not too far a drive from the city centre. Breakfast was delicious all of the produce was very fresh and the perfect end to our stay

A wonderful two night stay in the Green Room for our wedding anniversary. Rupert was an exceptional host - he sent us loads of information and recommendations before we arrived and was responsive and engaging when we were there. The room was charming and clean and had everything we needed including a very comfy bed and decent coffee machine! Very quiet and peaceful surroundings, a pleasant walk downhill into town, a bit more difficult walking back up the hill but having the Richmond pub with its friendly and welcoming operators at the end for a nightcap or two was a very welcome reward! Would definitely stay again.

The Alma Taverns Boutique Suites - Room 1 - Hopewe

I have visited the pub a couple of times before but this is the first time I have stayed at Alma Tavern. I stayed in Room 1 which was clean, warm and quiet. All the bar staff were friendly and gave clear instructions on how to check in (both while the pub was open and closed) and where to leave the key on check out. The communal breakfast area is a nice touch and it was nice to have cold milk and a bottle of cold water. Although the windows overlook a road, I found it quiet and no problem at all. One other guest commented on it being a good idea to look past the initial staircase to the rooms and I agree, I guess it could do with a lick of paint but the room itself and the location of the pub mean I will be looking to book again soon. Just in case it is of interest, parking on Alma Vale Road is free from 5pm to 9am and then you can park for 3 hours using RingGo or just pay at the machine. I arrived at 4, paid for one hour, then just set RingGo to cover the car from 9 to midday.

Just home from a fantastic stay at Heron’s Hideaway. Such a beautiful place with amazing views. It was the perfect spot to explore the Cotswolds for me and my family. The host was super helpful and friendly. Would highly recommend!

My friend and I had such a lovely weekend staying at this beautiful Airbnb in Bath! The place was spotless, cozy, and had everything we needed for a relaxing getaway. The location was perfect—peaceful, yet just a short walk from the city center and all the main sights. Our host was incredibly welcoming and thoughtful, with great communication throughout. We especially appreciated the little touches that made us feel right at home. Would absolutely stay here again—highly recommend to anyone visiting.

Sue’s house is a home away from home. We stayed for two nights and Sue really is a great host, allowing us to cook in her kitchen and even gave us a needlework lesson. We will definitely be back again, and can’t wait to see more of Bristol. Thanks Sue!

The most fantastic breakfast was included with this room. The room was basic, clean and had everything needed. The restaurant served excellent food and the staff were immensely helpful and friendly, even moving me to another room when the tv functions were not responding.

Fee and her team were really busy when we arrived working in the bar/restaurant downstairs but at no stage we were made to feel anything other than expected and welcome guests. The check in was easy, we were shown to our room at the front of the hotel on the 2nd floor. The room a good size, spotlessly clean and very comfortable. It is definitely a place we’d choose to stay in again if we were in the area, thank you for your welcome and hospitality Fee!

Our stay was a highlight of our walk along the Cotswold Way. The property and the accommodations were absolutely beautiful, rich in historical charm and tastefully furnished. The Pitman room with en suite bathroom was extremely comfortable. Our host, Charles, was kind, warm, and helpful. He welcomed us with tea (refreshing after our long walk) and kindly procured a dinner reservation for us at the Black Horse Inn, which was delightfully buzzing on a Friday night. The food and conviviality of that local pub were memorable. It seemed to be a glimpse into village life as locals greeted and enjoyed each other with laughter. We had an outstanding breakfast in the dining room of the Forthay Bed and Breakfast. The atmosphere, food, and hospitality were wonderful. Don't miss it!

Had a lovely stay here. It was very peaceful by the lake. The house was cosy and comfortable and the deck overlooking the lake was a real sun trap. From start to finish communications with the host and Neil on site was excellent.

Debbie and her family were very friendly and nothing was too much trouble for them. Beautiful setting in the countryside with farmland all around, and the very best pub just a stroll down the lane. Lovely room with a great view. We would have loved to have stayed longer.
