Iconic original and loads of gluten-free options, (though don't go for the chickpea salad!) . Great place to get some work done with your laptop in hand, the music isn't normally too loud.

You've got the beach, with beautiful soft white sand and usually the waves are perfect for little swimmers, and then once you've had enough sand and sun, come up onto the grassed area, find a spot under a tree with a great book, and lap up the peace and quiet while your children are in the playground nearby (good luck with the book!) You can even grab a cappuccino from the cafe nearby. Family icon - South Beach!

Beautiful trees, endless green, historic relics of original farmhouse (just limestone bricks remaining), great walking trails, and steps up to an amazing view over the area.

Great jetty for those with the courage to jump off! My kids adore this place, and there is also an enclosed area netted off so no sharks can come and get you!

Sightseeing
Historically an interesting place. Sad too, as Aboriginal prisoners were kept here before being shipped to Rottnest Island. Still, an historic site worth a visit, as it's walking distance from the heart of Freo.

Kind of expensive, but OK if you need some basic travel staples that are organic or at least not too full of chemical crap. Also a cafe here too with GREAT raw cheesecakes!

Cool scene, mixed public from families to younger couples to groovy ageing hippies. Usually live music too though difficult to find anything apart from cocktails that were gluten-free. Oh well, I guess I'll have another cocktail!
