Food Scene
These are local spots that are my personal faves. I am a dive, comfort foodie. If you are looking for upscale you wont find it here. But if you want authentic food, look no further!
I am a good cook and typically dont like eat out for soul food, but they are one of the best soul food brunch and dinner.
Everything tastes good here. EVERYTHING. My faves are fried Whiting, collard greens, and the mac n cheese, and I always get the coconut cake. Order 5 days ahead for catering for groups of 6 or more.
There are two locations. The one closer to the boardwalk offers live music and is large. But be prepared to wait in line to enter, it is worth the wait!

Ive had authentic Haitians tell me that this was the best they've ever had. The chicken in sauce with black rice is to die for. I also love the broiled red snapper in sauce.
If you want an authentic, well prepared Haitian meal, the drive is worth it. They are also on Uber Eats. But we try to picknup to avoid having the restaurant lose so much profit to Uber Eats.

Beach
This is a the beach that the community frequents, not tourists. Some people call it the Inkwell. It is a 3 min drive from the house, enter from Melrose, and it has plenty of free parking.
It is a unique beach experience where the past generations set up Bbq grills and sound system. They have a DJ play old school hits and creates a vibe that we love.
It is low key and ideal for a true social distancing beach experience for family. But like most beaches, you want to arrive early to get a good spot.
