Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Wagtails Watch is a private off-grid tiny home set on our 50-acre farm in Bindoon, just an hour from Perth. Thoughtfully designed for slow mornings, starry skies and cosy evenings by the fire, it’s a place to switch off and experience a little slice of country life.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, an adventure with friends, or a solo retreat, you’ll find space to relax and breathe in the fresh air. We warmly welcome all guests and strive to create an inclusive, safe space for everyone.

The space
Nestled amongst the gum trees, our cabin offers a laid-back, minimalist vibe while providing you with all the modern comforts needed to make you feel instantly at home.

Whether you're immersing yourself in a favourite book by our Roaring Meg indoor fire, sharing stories around the fire pit with a glass of local wine, or simply doing nothing, this is the perfect spot to escape from everyday life. All within easy reach, just one-hour drive north of Perth but feels like a world away.

Sleeping up to 4 people (including children) with two queen beds, a compact yet fully equipped kitchen, and a refreshing copper rain head shower, we’ve got everything you need for a relaxing stay.

Our off-grid setup means the cabin is powered by solar and battery, we collect and store rainwater, and we even have a composting toilet to minimise our environmental impact.

Please note that due to the terrain and design of Wagtails Watch, our accommodation may not be suitable for wheelchair users.

Guest access
Our tiny home is all yours to enjoy. After parking, follow a short 60-metre path to the cabin. This small walk helps keep the space quiet, private and tucked into the landscape.

Should you need any assistance, please let us know, and we'll do our best to make alternative arrangements to ensure your stay is comfortable.

During your stay you’re welcome to wander the farm paddocks, meet our horses, sheep and cattle, and experience the quiet rhythm of life on a small working farm.

Once you’re here, we’re sure you’ll be so relaxed that you won’t want to leave. But if you do get itchy feet, Bindoon village is just 4 kilometres away. It's also a great place to stop on your way to grab supplies.

Other things to note
Wagtails Watch is a working farm, so you'll likely come across our horses, cows, and sheep during your stay. For this reason, we unfortunately can’t allow pets on the property.

Our cabin may not be suitable for infants or small children, due to our facilities not accommodating their needs. Please be aware that the second bed is located in the mezzanine, accessible via stairs without a handrail.

Wagtails Watch is designed as a place to properly switch off. To help create that feeling, we don’t have Wi-Fi or a TV. Instead you’ll find books, board games, a Bluetooth speaker and plenty of space to slow down.

We’ve stocked the pantry with a few thoughtful essentials so you can settle straight in. Fresh coffee beans (with a hand grinder), oats for a slow morning breakfast, marshmallows for the fire pit, and a few cooking staples so you don’t need to bring everything with you.

As we are situated near the Great Northern Highway, you may experience some traffic noise typical of rural areas. However, rest assured that your stay will still give you all the benefits of countryside living!

We are located in a rural location so you will need a car for your stay.

Hi, we’re Emma and Rod! A few years ago, we traded city life for 50 acres of rolling countryside in Bindoon, in the Chittering Valley. We’re passionate about learning small-scale regenerative farming, growing our own veggies, and finding ways to live more sustainably. We created Wagtails Watch so we could share this lifestyle with others. It’s a place where you can slow down, connect with nature, and experience the beauty of this region.
