Peace and quiet

Guests say this home is in a quiet area.
Welcome to Wagtails Watch, a place to unwind, recharge, and connect with nature. Perched on a 50-acre farm and surrounded by rolling hills and stunning Chittering Valley views, our cosy tiny house is the perfect retreat for slowing down and escaping the hustle and bustle.

Whether it’s a romantic getaway, an adventure with friends, or a solo retreat, you’ll find space to relax and breathe in the fresh air. We warmly welcome all guests and strive to create an inclusive, safe space for everyone.

The space
Nestled amongst the gum trees, our cabin offers a laid-back, minimalist vibe while providing you with all the modern comforts needed to make you feel instantly at home. Sleeping up to 4 people (including children) with two queen beds, a compact yet fully equipped kitchen, and a refreshing copper rain head shower, we’ve got everything you need for a comfortable stay.

Our off-grid setup means the cabin is powered by solar and battery, we collect and store rainwater, and we even have a composting toilet to minimise our environmental impact.

Whether you're immersing yourself in a favourite book by our Roaring Meg indoor fire, sharing stories around the fire pit with a glass of local wine, or simply doing nothing, this is the perfect spot to escape from everyday life. All within easy reach, just one-hour drive north of Perth.

Please note that due to the terrain and design of Wagtails Watch, our accommodation may not be suitable for wheelchair users.

Guest access
Our tiny home is all yours to enjoy. Park your car and take a short 60-metre uphill stroll along a gravel pathway to reach our secluded cabin behind the old shearing shed. If you have any difficulty with the walk from the car park, please let us know, and we'll do our best to make alternative arrangements to ensure your stay is comfortable.

During your stay, feel free to explore our farm and take a leisurely walk through the paddocks. If you plan to have a look around, we recommend sturdy footwear, especially after rain when the paths may be slippery.

Once you’re here, we’re sure you’ll be so relaxed that you won’t want to leave. But if you do get itchy feet, Bindoon village is just 4 kilometres away. It's also a great place to stop on your way to grab supplies.

Other things to note
Wagtails Watch is a working farm, so you'll likely come across our horses, cows, and sheep during your stay. For this reason, we unfortunately can’t allow pets on the property.

Our cabin is not suitable for infants or small children under 5, due to our facilities not accommodating their needs. Please note that the second bed is located in the mezzanine, accessible via stairs without a handrail.

**Please note that we do not have wi-fi or a TV**

The idea of our escape is to full switch off and slow down, so we intentionally do not provide Wi-Fi or a TV. Phone reception can be patchy, depending on your provider, you'll find stronger phone reception in the village if you need it. The cabin does have a bluetooth speaker, just remember to download music before you arrive!

We’ve got you covered with our stocked pantry that includes; butter, olive oil, salt, pepper, oats, ground coffee beans (plus a hand grinder and extra coffee beans), black and herbal tea, milk (incl. non dairy options), hot chocolate and, of course, marshmallows to dip or toast! We also provide eco-friendly toiletries.

Please be aware that Wagtails Watch is situated near the Great Northern Highway, so guests may experience some traffic noise typical of rural areas. However, rest assured that your stay will still give you all the benefits of countryside living!

We are located in a rural location so you will need a car for your stay.

Hi, we’re Emma and Rod! A few years ago, we traded city life for 50 acres of rolling countryside in Bindoon, in the Chittering Valley. We’re passionate about learning small-scale regenerative farming, growing our own veggies, and finding ways to live more sustainably. We created Wagtails Watch so we could share this lifestyle with others. It’s a place where you can slow down, connect with nature, and experience the beauty of this region.
