Set in rambling heritage-listed gardens at The Rift Estate, The Coach House is an elegant, charming country retreat. Gourmet kitchen, expansive living, dining and relaxed alfresco spaces; minutes to bushwalking trails, wineries and Bowral town.

Built at the same time as the grand old late-nineteenth century Italianate mansion nearby, The Coach House once accommodated the coachman and horses and retains many original character features that reflect its rich history.

The space
A gourmet kitchen awaits, and an outdoor entertaining area with bbq and deck chairs on the verandah for relaxing. More energetic guests can play croquet and badminton on the lawn, or wander down to the field for a game of cricket or football. There are gardens full of fruit, vegetables, herbs and flowers to explore. Named for the geological rift at the base of Mount Gibraltar, there are bushwalking trails and scenic paths to explore nearby.

Guest access
The Schoolhouse B&B and The Rift historic mansion are nearby. Each dwelling has private guest-only areas complemented by shared access to the Estate gardens, pond, field and creek.

Once inside the entry gates turn left along the drive to access the parking area.
A path in the middle of the hedge opposite the parking area leads down a short flight of steps to the French door entry.

Alternatively, to circumvent the steps, opposite the entry gates follow the path behind the welcome sign to the barn door entry on the left.

Hi, I’m Janet. I live with my family in beautiful Bowral in The Southern Highlands of NSW. We opened the barn doors of our charming Coach House to guests over a decade ago, and recently opened The Schoolhouse to guests, too. Nestled in meandering gardens near Mount Gibraltar, The Coach House was the original stables and coach house on the grounds of our heritage estate, The Rift. We have had the pleasure of sharing our luxury property with wonderful guests from all over Australia and worldwide.
