Set in a quiet East Tamworth location, The Driscoll offers a relaxed stay with modern amenities, a short walk from Peel Street, shops, cafes, dining, parks, entertainment and nearby attractions.
Pet-friendly and suited for families, professionals or longer stays, the three-bedroom home sleeps six and offers two bathrooms, wired ethernet and strong indoor-outdoor Wi-Fi.
The space
The Driscoll is a five-generation family home, held continuously since its construction in the 1920s. It retains its original structure and distinctive character while offering generous internal space and a practical layout that supports both shared living and private retreat.
Architecturally, the home is an inter-war Californian Bungalow with Old English influence. Its enduring character and proportions are complemented by comfortable interiors, practical amenities and systems designed for reliability and ease of use.
What sets the property apart is not a single feature, but the combination of space, layout and consistency. The home offers more usable internal area than typical central accommodation, with separate lounge and dining zones, a fully equipped kitchen, two full bathrooms and a private, fully fenced yard, allowing guests to move easily between shared and private spaces.
Designed for year-round comfort, the fully insulated, single-level home includes whole-home air conditioning across all bedrooms and living areas, supported by ducted and split systems. Two built-in fireplaces provide gas and electric heating. Separate lounge and dining areas, a front porch and rear terrace provide distinct living zones.
The kitchen is fully equipped for extended stays, including an induction cooktop, pyrolytic oven with AirFry, combination microwave, dishwasher, large fridge with chilled water and ice, and quality cookware. Whole-home filtered water is supplied to all internal taps.
Two full bathrooms include dual shower heads, heated bidet toilets, a walk-in shower and a shower over bath.
Integrated smart controls operate lighting, climate and entertainment, including smart TVs, Apple TV and voice control. High-speed NBN fibre internet is provided, with whole-home Wi-Fi coverage, wired ethernet and redundant high-speed connectivity.
Outside, the private, fully fenced yard includes front and rear outdoor living and dining areas. The detached garage is accessible from the rear laneway and is designated as a shared space with the host. Additional street parking is available at the front, and EV charging is provided.
The home accommodates up to six guests across two queen bedrooms and a flexible study/bunk room with a king-single-over-king-single bunk suitable for adults or children.
Guest access
Guests have access to the house, front porch, private front and rear yard, and outdoor living areas.
The property is entered via the front gate and front door on Fitzroy Street, with self check-in provided. The home itself is single-level inside, with two steps at the front porch and one step at the rear entrance.
Street parking is available directly in front of the property. The detached garage is accessed via the rear laneway from Griffin Avenue. The detached garage is available for parking and EV charging, but is designated as a shared space with the host rather than an exclusive guest-only area.
The garage is a wide, single vehicle garage and can accommodate most standard vehicles, including those up to approximately 2 metres in height.
Wired ethernet outlets are available in the bedrooms, dining room and lounge, with strong Wi-Fi available throughout the home and outdoor areas.
Other things to note
The Driscoll is ideal for families and groups of up to six. One infant under 2 may be added separately to the Airbnb booking; no cot is supplied.
Two queen bedrooms sleep four guests. The study has a king-single-over-king-single bunk, providing two further sleeping positions suitable for adults or children.
The lounge double sofa bed provides an alternative sleeping arrangement within the six-guest maximum and can be prepared before arrival when requested.
Both bunk positions may be used by adults or children. The upper bunk is not recommended for children under 9, in line with Australian product-safety guidance.
