Perched high on Knights Hill above Jamberoo, Miste Tor is a modern farmhouse retreat with sweeping views from Sydney Airport to Gerringong. Set on historic dairy land with rainforest, koi pond and friendly cows and horses, it offers 4 double bedrooms, 4 bathrooms and generous open-plan living. Wake to birdsong, push open the doors, enjoy a peaceful sanctuary for long lunches, slow mornings and starry nights by the fire that you’ll never want to leave.

The space
Perched 800 metres above sea level on the Illawarra Plateau, Miste Tor is a modern farmhouse with a soul. Once a humble 100-acre dairy farm, it’s now a stylish country retreat that still feels wonderfully authentic. Completed in 2023, the home sits above Jamberoo with uninterrupted views sweeping from Sydney Airport to Wollongong and all the way down to Gerringong, directly neighbouring the Illawarra treetop skywalk experience, and just 12 minutes from Robertson, 20 minutes to Jamberoo and 25 minutes to Kiama’s beaches.

Inside, the house offers plenty of room for families and groups, with four spacious double bedrooms, four bathrooms, two well-equipped kitchens and generous open-plan lounge and dining spaces made for long, lazy meals. Huge windows and doors frame the ever-changing escarpment – mist rolling in, golden sunsets, and glittering lights across the Illawarra Basin.

Step outside and you’re in your own little world. Seven acres of pristine rainforest fall away from the front of the house, and a tranquil koi pond shimmers by the entrance with fish over 30 years old. Across the paddocks you might meet our horses, or Josey and Bart – the gentle house cows, who are always happy to wander over for a pat and a carrot or two from guests.

With birdsong in the morning, stars blazing at night and the scent of untouched bushland on Knights Hill, Miste Tor is less a holiday house and more a sanctuary you’ll be talking about for years.
