A five-minute walk from picturesque Karri Lake, Millars By The Lake is an adults only heritage-listed mill settlement cottage deep in the South West in the remote town of Quinninup … the perfect place to unwind.

Whether you are star gazing from the outdoor bath, bird spotting on the verandah or watching the mist rise at nearby Karri Lake (a short walk away), Millars is an idyllic setting to relax and simply just breathe.

***Adults only, unfortunately the cottage is not suitable for children***

The space
A maximum of 4 adult guests can comfortably enjoy Millars, which includes 2 rooms (each boasting a queen size bed), bathroom, and an open living and dining and kitchen space.

The 75-year-old cottage is perfectly imperfect, with a captivating rustic warmth throughout from the original jarrah floorboards and sash windows to the thoughtfully curated vintage artwork and furniture.

Enjoy a glass of wine on the verandah, have a soak in the outdoor bath, or head down to the lake for a swim and to watch the sunset.

Guest access
Situated on Quinninup’s central road, our cottage, backyard and verandah is just for you.

Our neighbours are close by on one side, they love the peace just as much as we do, and forest on the other side. And we have a wonderful mix of locals from an award winning photographer, artists, and fellow seekers of a calm and quiet escape.

Karri Lake is a short walk away, and is quite often all yours! It is newly open for passive recreation, so please BYO your canoes, water inflatables and bathers! A morning swim is a wonderful way to start your day in Quinninup.

Note that the cottage sleeps an absolute maximum of 4 guests and we do not accept additional guests.

Other things to note
New owners - We fell in love with Millars and the beautiful restoration done by its previous owners. We have only owned this little cottage for a short time; however, we are excited to welcome back previous guests and look forward to hosting those seeking a quiet space to slow down and unwind.

Children - Unfortunately, we do not accept booking requests for families with children.

Supplies - Millars is situated in a beautifully remote part of the South West and mobile reception is limited. There are NO shops or petrol stations in Quinninup (there is a pub and post office) please remember to bring everything you need (we stock a basic pantry at the cottage).

Fire restrictions - (Nov - April) The fire pit is not in use during this period and open fires of any kind, including smoking (at all times), are strictly not permitted. We cannot stress how dangerous open flames and the bushfire risk is to our property, the local wildlife, our neighbours and the community.

Heating/cooling - for chilly nights our cosy wood burner does a beautiful job of heating the open plan living areas, and we also have reverse cycle units for heating (and cooling) in the living area and bedrooms.

Pets - No pets of any kind are permitted.

Accessibility - The cottage is split level (three stairs), and we have a over-bath shower - so this listing might not suit those who prefer a stand-alone shower or have mobility issues.

Wildlife - we regularly have a range of visitors from blue wrens to frogs and owls. With idyllic country life there is the occasional possum partying on the roof or (very rarely) a mouse about the house.

March flies - like most of the South West, from late Jan to March we have awful biting March flies (due to the flowering Marri trees). Given they are nasty buggers we offer a reduced rate over that period.

Outdoor bath - please bring bathers for a daytime soak in the tub, however the pitch black country nights offer privacy under the stars.
