Lovingly reimagined by an artist, Material Girl is a heritage shop terrace hidden behind High Street in Prahran — Melbourne’s most established stretch of cafés, interiors studios and boutique fashion. Enter through a bluestone laneway into a leafy courtyard, where a handcrafted home unfolds, composed of silks, considered pieces and calm, light-filled rooms curated with care. Personal, textural and welcoming, this is no ordinary stay.

The space
DOWNSTAIRS
• Jewel-box kitchen lined in soft metallics, fully equipped with Essteele cookware, pantry staples, stovetop espresso, and plunger.
• Separate dining room framed by hand-dyed silk curtains—perfect for slow breakfasts or relaxed evening meals.
• Library/study with a velvet daybed, Gubi “Beetle” chair and a curated cabinet of interiors, art, and fiction books—a quiet space to work, read, or reflect.
• Entry is via a bluestone laneway that leads through a leafy courtyard with herbs and a lemon tree.

UPSTAIRS
• Hallway leads first to a light-filled bathroom with step-in bath and overhead shower.
• Serene queen bedroom dressed in pure French linen with a heavy blackout curtain for restful sleep.
• Light-filled living room overlooking High Street—a welcoming spot to unwind, listen to music, or simply watch the world go by.

Free and easy street parking is available nearby — you’ll have everything you need for unlimited parking for one car throughout your stay.

Guest access
You’ll have the home and courtyard garden entirely to yourself, with the rare exception of a quiet staff member from the boutique below, who may occasionally pass through the courtyard to access their amenities at the rear.

A washing machine and dryer are available for use in a separate laundry at the rear of the property—free of charge.

Entry is via the rear laneway gate only (no High Street access). Key-safe self check-in after 3 pm.

Other things to note
• Winding staircase and step-in bath with shower overhead may not suit those with mobility concerns.

• Not suitable for children or pets due to delicate furnishings and safety considerations.

• Quiet hours are after 11 pm.

• Pantry essentials provided: ground coffee, oat/dairy milk, herbal teas, olive oil, salt, and pepper.
