Stay in a private 1920s Queenslander set high on a 110-acre working farm, with sweeping views across Laceys Creek to the D’Aguilar Range. Mackenzie Creek Homestead (formerly Lacey’s Creek Homestead) is just 10 minutes from Dayboro and around 50 minutes from Brisbane. Coloured glass, polished timber floors, a wood fire, farm animals and deep country quiet make it feel a world away. Sleeps six across three bedrooms.

The space
Mackenzie Creek is a genuine country homestead rather than a resort. Built in the 1920s and moved to the farm in the 1970s (from the farm next door), the guest house has been restored with its character intact: 12-foot ceilings, coloured-glass casement windows, polished timber floors, collected vintage furniture and a wood-burning fire.

The house sleeps six across three bedrooms and includes a full country kitchen, a generous living and dining room, a sunroom, veranda and one private bathroom. The entire guest homestead is yours alone.

Outside are 110 acres of ridgelines, paddocks, seasonal creeks and walking tracks. Depending on the season, you may see our Dexter & Angus cattle nearby, with chooks, ducks and geese moving through the farmyard. Our small Fiano vineyard sits below the ridge.

This is a place for slow breakfasts, country walks and a drink on the veranda as the last light moves across the valley. Our family lives in a separate house on the farm, close enough to help while leaving you to enjoy the homestead in peace.

You’ll have exclusive use of the entire three-bedroom guest homestead, including the kitchen, living and dining room, veranda and private bathroom, plus access to the farm tracks shown in the guest guide. Our family lives in a separate house on the property. We’re close enough to help, but the homestead and its outlook are private. Please leave farm gates as you find them and follow any livestock or weather notices in the guide.

Other things to note
Mobile reception is generally limited to Telstra and can still be patchy. Many guests enjoy the opportunity to properly switch off, but anyone requiring reliable connectivity should plan accordingly.

The homestead relies on rainwater, so we ask guests to be mindful of water use, particularly during drier periods.

As a Queenslander more than 100 years old, the homestead has a few quirks typical of its era. Most notably, the bathroom is attached to the house but accessed through an external door, approximately two metres from the main living area.

Mackenzie Creek is a working farm, so guests may encounter livestock, farm activity and uneven ground during their stay.

Heavy summer rainfall can occasionally cause temporary road closures. We recommend checking local conditions before travelling during significant wet weather.

Commercial photography and filming are permitted only with prior written approval. A separate location-hire fee, agreed scope and appropriate public-liability insurance may apply. Accommodation bookings do not automatically include commercial use of the property.
