Tucked into a peaceful pocket near the river in Barwon Heads, Araluen is designed for couples seeking a slower, more mindful escape. Here, life opens to the outdoors — native gardens, birdsong and quiet moments by the water. Enjoy your own private solar-heated pool and seasonal wood-fired hot tub, perfect in both summer and winter. Wander to the river and village, or simply stay in and relax in complete privacy. It’s a calm, grounded place where you can truly unwind together.
The space
When you book Araluen for Two, you’ll have exclusive access to the peaceful master bedroom with ensuite, along with your own private pool, wood-fired hot tub (April - End October) and deck area. To create a cosy, intimate atmosphere, the unused areas of the house are simply closed off — ensuring privacy without ever feeling restricted. You’ll still have plenty of space to relax and unwind, and if you need to catch up on a little work during your stay, a quiet study is also available for your use.

When you book Araluen for Two—whether as a couple or a solo traveller—the space is thoughtfully tailored just for you. Areas of the larger home that aren’t needed are gently closed off to create a more private, peaceful experience.
Your stay includes:
A spacious lounge with a stunning Philippe Cheminee fireplace
Open-plan dining and kitchen area with butler’s pantry
A quiet study for reading, writing, or working remotely
The master king bedroom with ensuite (please note: located upstairs)
An additional washroom downstairs
And the best part: private access to the solar-heated pool, wood-fired hot tub (April - End October) outdoor entertaining areas, a native garden, permaculture veggie patch, and even a basketball hoop for a casual shoot-around.
Please note that this configuration does not include access to a washing machine or tumble dryer.
Other things to note
We have a strict no-party policy, as Araluen is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac and we’re committed to maintaining a peaceful environment for our neighbours.
This is a non-smoking property, both indoors and throughout the garden areas.
Please note, the master bedroom is located upstairs, so the space may not be suitable for guests with mobility limitations.
We’re happy to welcome small dogs with prior approval—just get in touch before booking. A one-off pet fee of $150 applies.
We kindly ask guests to treat the garden and surrounding environment with care, and to be mindful of the local wildlife that call this area home.
As we’re surrounded by native bushland, we recommend keeping fly screens closed—especially in the warmer months—to help keep out mosquitoes, flies, and other curious insects.
