These Australia Gift Card Terms and Conditions (‘Gift Card Terms’) govern your use of Airbnb Gift Cards (‘Gift Cards’) on the Airbnb Platform. Your use of Gift Cards and the services available via the Airbnb Platform shall be subject to Airbnb’s Terms of Service (‘Terms’); if you see an undefined term in these Gift Card Terms, it has the same definition as in the Terms.
Gift Cards sold in Australia are issued by Airbnb Ireland UC (‘Issuer’). Gift Cards can be purchased through https://www.airbnb.com.au/giftcards and from authorised third-party distributors. Gift Cards may be issued in either electronic or physical form, at the discretion of the Issuer.
You must have an Airbnb account in order to use a Gift Card. If you do not have an Airbnb account, you’ll need to create one in order to use a Gift Card. You can add a Gift Card to your Airbnb account by visiting airbnb.com.au/gift. Upon adding a Gift Card, the entire Gift Card value will be transferred to and shown on your Airbnb account as your Gift Card balance. Gift Card balance(s) may only be redeemed towards the purchase of eligible services on the Airbnb Platform provided via the Issuer and its affiliates. Any purchase made with a Gift Card will be deducted from your Gift Card balance(s), and any unused Gift Card balance(s) will remain on your Airbnb account until used. If a purchase exceeds your existing Gift Card balance(s), the remaining amount due must be paid with another Payment Method. You can view your Gift Card balance(s) by signing in to your Airbnb account.
No fees of any kind apply to Gift Cards, and Gift Cards and Gift Card balance(s) do not expire.
In Australia, Gift Cards can only be used by individuals residing in Australia. You must also have a valid payment method issued in Australia.
Gift Cards may only be applied towards charges for booking Accommodations, Experiences or Services; they may not be applied towards other charges in connection with services available on the Airbnb Platform, including but not limited to: changes to existing reservations, Resolution Centre Payments, Damage Report amounts or the purchase of other Gift Cards. Gift Cards cannot be reloaded, resold, transferred for value or redeemed for cash, except to the extent required by law. Once a Gift Card is added to an Airbnb account, its value cannot be transferred to another person or Airbnb account; a Gift Card balance on an Airbnb account may not be cashed out or transferred to another Airbnb account.
Please safeguard your Gift Card. Once a digital Gift Card is electronically transmitted to the purchaser or designated recipient, or a physical Gift Card is delivered to the purchaser or designated recipient, whichever is applicable, the risk of loss and title for Gift Card pass to the purchaser or designated recipient. The Issuer is not responsible if any Gift Card is lost, stolen, destroyed or used without your permission.
The Issuer and its affiliates reserve the right to any remedy, including refusal to issue or honour a Gift Card in the event of suspected fraud. The Issuer and its affiliates also reserve the right to refuse to honour a Gift Card that is obtained from unauthorised sellers and resellers. We have the right to close a Member’s account and charge alternative Payment Methods if a fraudulently obtained Gift Card is added and/or used to make or attempt purchases on the Airbnb Platform.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we make no warranties, express or implied, with respect to Gift Cards, including without limitation, any express or implied warranty of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. To the maximum extent permitted by law, in the event a Gift Card is non-functional, your sole remedy and our sole liability will be the replacement of such Gift Card. Certain laws do not allow limitations on implied warranties or the exclusion or limitation of certain damages. If these laws apply to you, some or all of the above disclaimers, exclusions or limitations may not apply to you, and you may have additional rights.
Your rights under a Gift Card will terminate if you materially fail to comply with these Gift Card Terms or if your Airbnb account is terminated or suspended. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Gift Card, and the Issuer and its affiliates may revoke your access to any Gift Card balance(s). If your suspended account is reactivated, your Gift Card rights can be used again. The Issuer’s failure to insist upon or enforce your strict compliance with these Gift Card Terms will not constitute a waiver of any of the Issuer’s rights.
Any dispute or claim relating in any way to Gift Cards will be resolved in accordance with the Governing Law and Dispute Resolution section of the Terms.

These Gift Card Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with Irish law, and your purchase, receipt and/or redemption of a Gift Card is subject to Irish law unless otherwise specified in the Applicable Law and Jurisdiction section of the Terms. The Issuer reserves the right to modify these Gift Card Terms at any time. When we make material changes to these Gift Card Terms, we will post the revised Gift Card Terms on the Airbnb Platform and update the ‘Last updated’ date at the top of these Gift Card Terms. We will also provide you with notice of any material changes by email at least 60 days before the date they become effective and will inform you about your right to terminate your Terms of Service agreement with Airbnb. Unless you terminate your agreement with Airbnb before the date the revised Gift Card Terms become effective, your continued access to or use of the Airbnb Platform will constitute acceptance of the revised Gift Card Terms. All terms and conditions are applicable to the extent permitted by law.
