Set in peaceful bushland on Tasmania's east coast, Solitude Bicheno is an intentionally designed space created for rest, reflection, and renewal.
As a qualified yoga and meditation teacher, I offer every guest a complimentary private session of either yin yoga or guided meditation during their stay, a rare addition to a retreat like this, and the heart of why this space exists.
Please note we are unable to accommodate babies, infants, children or pets.
The space
Constructed in 2025, Solitude Bicheno was designed around the belief that rest is something to be intentional about. With a focus on stillness, simplicity, and gentle ritual, this is a sanctuary to retreat from the pace of everyday life and reconnect with yourself, whether you're travelling solo, or as a couple.
Every element has been considered to support a slower rhythm: one that allows for restoration, clarity, and calm. A soft green palette runs throughout, bringing the tones of the surrounding landscape inside. A yoga mat is provided for your own practice, and the space has intentionally excluded connectivity, with no TV or WiFi, to offer a deliberate disconnect and invite you to take the time to go within.
The kitchen, wardrobe and benches were crafted by a local Bicheno cabinet maker, with a granite benchtop in soft hues of green and pink sourced from a Tasmanian supplier. Wherever possible, Bicheno and Tasmanian tradespeople have been engaged to build this space, ready for you to enjoy.
Outside, the garden has been designed to work with, not against, our dry coastal climate: large natural boulders, native bushland, and slow-growing Tasmanian plantings, built for quiet rather than show. It's a garden of stone and stillness as much as green, and it will only deepen with time.
As part of your stay, I offer a complimentary one-on-one yin yoga or guided meditation session, tailored to your experience level and what you need from your time here, whether that's gentle movement, breathwork, or simply learning to sit still. For guests staying longer, additional sessions can be arranged for an additional cost, just ask.
Guest access
You have the entire top storey of one of the dwellings on the property to yourselves, with your own private garden area to relax in. As I live on-site, this is a genuinely hosted retreat. I'm close by if you need anything, including your yoga session, but the rest of the property is separate from your space, and you won't be disturbed.
Situated at the end of Harveys Farm Road, it's an easy, short stroll to the coastline, a 5-minute drive to Bicheno's town centre, and a great base for exploring the region, including Freycinet National Park, Douglas Apsley National Park, and the Bay of Fires, all of which are within easy reach.
Other things to note
Solitude Bicheno runs entirely on tank water, so we'd love for you to be mindful of your water use during your stay. Shorter showers are appreciated, and letting us know if you notice any drips or leaks goes a long way.
