Stay above the clouds in our hilltop off-grid cabin!
Drive just over an hour from Melbourne, and you’ll find our tiny house nestled on our 100 acre property with mountain views. Perched atop a steep hill, you’ll catch every magical sunrise and enjoy the changing light in the evening as the shadows fall over the land.
Our tiny home offers a slower pace of life, is solar powered and has everything you need for an unforgettable stay – including a outdoor bath so you can bathe under the stars!
The space
Our Tiny House is a completely off-grid experience. We're powered completely by solar and water comes from our tanks filled with rain water. If the weather is overcast, this is going to affect how much solar power the house can produce, so please bring your warm clothes, an open mind and your sense of adventure! We've recently upgraded our tiny home so we now have a septic and flush toilet (previously a composting one!).
Our home features a loft style bedroom with Queen size Koala bed and 100% flax linen, a lounge area with a Koala sofa bed (turns into a double), induction stove top kitchen with bar fridge, bathroom with shower, a large living edge timber vanity and a toilet. The home is heated and cooled by a reverse cycle air conditioner and multiple fans – plus there is a large fire pit outside to enjoy. We do not provide fire wood but you're welcome to forage for wood on our land. Please be aware that during fire ban periods over the warmer months, you cannot light a fire and will not be able to use the firepit. There is an outdoor area to enjoy, consisting of a multi-level deck, small and cosy outdoor bath, fire pit and of course sweeping breath-taking views from your high vantage point atop one of our hills.
This is the perfect retreat for couples, friend groups or small families who want to escape to the wild and enjoy the rugged beauty of the surrounds, or even use it as a base while you explore further afield. Our 100 acre property is home to many resident animals, and as such the land can be uneven with rabbit holes and the like. The hills are steep, which gives incredible views, but remember to tread carefully and know your fitness levels should you wish to enjoy a hike through the property.
You'll be able to enjoy panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and area from the timber deck or wander the property spotting native animals, deer and birds of prey.
Please note: our main residence where we live is also on the property and you will see our home as you drive into our property. We do our best to stay low key when guests stay, but you may see and hear us during your stay. We tend to stay on the side from the property gate to our home, so you will generally have from the tiny home towards the end of our property to yourself - this is the largest part of our land and perfect for walks. Our home is situated in a way that it does not face the tiny home, you will see a wall of monument Colourbond cladding from the tiny home if you look up too where we have our home. We have included a photo so you can see for yourself before you stay.
Guest access
Once you reach the entrance of the property, please go through the gate and close it behind you. Continue down the rocky road until you see the road fork near our main residence - take the road to the right and follow past the silver water tank to the car park space defined by logs. Park here, and follow the path (outlined by solar lights should you arrive late) and you will find our tiny home down the 100 meter path. Please note, you will need to walk to the tiny house from the car park, you cannot drive the final 100 meters.
Access to our property is only by car. There are a few unsealed roads as you get off the highway, but all are accessible by 2WD. In the dark you will need to be extra mindful of kangaroos and other wildlife, including deer.
Other things to note
Infants and Children – You are more than welcome to bring the whole family! We do not have a basinet or cot, but you are welcome to bring one should you need. Just remember this is a tiny home, so space is limited. Please be mindful the path to the house can get a little rough from the echidnas and rabbits nosing about and the property has steep hills if you decide to go for a hike.
Mobile Reception – For those of you not ready to completely unplug, you’ll be happy to know we have mobile reception (depending on your mobile provider – we can confirm great reception for Telstra though).
Pet Policy – Sorry, no pets allowed. We want our land to be a haven for our native animals.
Resources – Our Tiny Home is designed to be part of nature, if you leave the blinds open you’ll be woken by beautiful sunrises. Please note that due to the nature and location of our Tiny Home, during the cold winter days and the hot summer days you will need to pack your adventurous spirit! We have a reverse cycle air conditioner, multiple fans and hot water bottles all to help keep you comfortable. Our Tiny House is powered by the sun, so at night or on grey days, it will run low, especially if you are not mindful – there is a battery monitor so you can keep an eye on your usage and plan accordingly. We leave a gas cooker when the weather is not good so you'll still be able to cook and enjoy hot beverages.
Wildlife – This is a wild part of Australia and the onus ultimately is on you when it comes to keeping safe. Be mindful of snakes and other wild animals, such as deer. You’ll enjoy spotting the kangaroo, echidna, parrots, and other stunning native wildlife as they meander about the property.
